After showering Metronomy and The Twelves with love, Bacardi B-Live is back with a new release for Groove Armada. The full release will be available January 20th but we have special sneak peak with The Twelves remix. The Twelves apply their Midas touch and turn “Drop The Tough” into a crazy disco track. Total party. Honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when I heard The Twelves had remixed Groove Armada but this one is solid gold:

The Twelves are back with a new mixtape — including some of their new official remixes for Zeigeist and The Virgins. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve headed over to The Twelves’ MySpace to listen to their remix of “Humanitarianism.” Like at least a million. The mix also includes some of their home brews for Radiohead, Lykke Li and Fleet Foxes. Based on their previous Thirty Minutes of the Twelves mixtape, we can assume without listening that this one is nop totch. Yep, it is:

Database has been stringing me along with bits and hints on their re-edit EP for a couple months now. Along with Database’s own work, they invited a bunch of their friends to contribute to the EP including Bo$$ in Drama, The Twelves, Cello Zero, Midnight Martyn, Roots Rock Revolution and Fabrizio Martinelli. WELL today is the day it is out — and the best news for all is that Ugly Edit Vol. 1 is a free download on their MySpace. Ah, for better or worse disco is back, and Database is at the top of the game.

Our friend The Twelves is no stranger to this site — we’ve posted their remixes of Asobi Seksu, M.I.A., Erlend Øye, NYPC, Kylie, Yelle and Theatre of Disco… and let’s not forget the most popular mixtape we’ve posted in recent times. So yeah, no strangers.

A step away from the remixes, the duo emailed us early last week two original tracks they’ve been shopping around. “When You Talk” and “Works For Me” are both top notch and the quality production we’ve come to expect from the Twelves — total pro work here. The 12′s Luciano qualified the tracks by stating, “the vocals were home-recorded (by us) so its not 100 percent.” But I gotta say I rather enjoy the vox as is and hope they don’t evolve too much from these demos.

Hey! Australia meet Brazil! BIGSTEREO fav’s The Twelves are back with a brand new remix for Theatre of Disco. I have to say this might be the Twelves most exciting mix to date… looooove it. We’re rooting for TOD to make big waves — Rchrd Oh?! posted up the original of this track back in September, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since then. Exciting stuff as usual from down under.

I listen to it very often and I love it more and more. I would qualified it as “emo bigbeat”, it s strong and nice at the same time. The synth line in the end, makes you feel like doing air-keyboard while making faces. I already know how I can dance on it !

Cette ligne de basse me fascine, on dirait un solo de guitare screwé. C’est puissant, ça groove, ça opresse, et avec ce type beat c’est super original en fait. Les cuts de la fin sont vraiment cools, très fins et contrastent super bien avec cette grosse ligne de basse pateuse qui vomit partout sur le tapis du salon!

That bass line is fascinating, it looks like a screwed guitar solo. It’s strong, it grooves, it’s sweltering, and with that type of beat, it’sreally something we’re not used to. The cuts in the end are really cool, very thin. GrandMarnier’s choice, today!

The Twelves take “2 Hearts” back to Kylie Minogue’s more disco-y times — this remix sounds like it could’ve almost come out of the Fever era by ditching her glam band persona for something a little more conventional. I love The Twelves but miss the piano and the stomper potential of the original. I’m not sold on the Braxe or Studio remixes either — so The Twelves definitely fill a void. But I guess I just wish it was louder, more dangerous; ya know, torn apart and then duct taped back together again. But maybe then again, the problem with “2 Hearts” is it is almost impossible to leave its perfect, cushy pop sound.

New Young Pony Club and the Twelves are two artists we post a lot of work from — so when they combine, well watch out!! NYPC is releasing their umpteenth single from Fantastic Playroom — and “Get Lucky” is an obvious choice for a single. It’s catchy and upbeat and all the rest that makes a single a single. The Twelves put their own twist on the track — they’re easily becoming one of my favorites. Their mixes are consistently good and easy to like and they’ve nailed their own sound without being too trendy. The Twelves are the perfect match for NYPC…

The Twelves come from Rio de Janiero, Brazil….well, they practically came out of nowhere. I haven’t heard much about them, except for their remixes popping up here and there in the blog world. But for two up-and-coming guys, they sure did a kickass job on both the MIA and the Asobi Seksu tracks. They hinted that their next remix was gonna be for a pretty big label…a BigStereo favorite, to be exact. Hurry up, guys, I dont think I can wait.
