Story behind the video: “Two characters from the turn of the century, a doctor/scientist and a clown/magician, walk through one day in their lives in search for something new to break the monotony of repetition. As they move through their own different experiences, they discover to be the two halves of one same person, their worlds a mirror image of each other and their vision one and the same.”

I dunno — is it me or all Diplo mixes sounding about the same these days? Granted, this is one of the better sounding recent Diplo remix, but it is certainly missing that fire from a couple years back. The Black Ghosts – “I Don’t Know” (imeem)

“I Don’t Know” is directed by Gordon Hull of Surface to Air fame. When I read that Hull had created a video for this series I immediately thought of his ghost people photo series — which of course, similar imagery is used in the video. Ok, kinda an obvious fit but perfect at the same time.

How rad is the protagonist of this video?.. she dances alone. Not only is this my favorite video so far but also my favorite Black Ghosts track. Sooooo good.

And unrelated but related — for whatever reason Lo-Fi-Fnk’s remix of “Face” hit my ears for the first time ever over the weekend. Fan of both bands and super fan of this mix:

We’ve been posting The Black Ghosts for over a year now — and it looks like they’re finally set to blow up in the States just as the other Simian descendant did. They’re releasing their first domestic EP this week on IAMSOUND — we have a couple B Sides that didn’t quite make the cut onto the disc. “Am I Too Late” sounds like drunken, stretched eighties revival — like it can’t decide to start or stop. “The Consequence” was original found on their remix disc and has a post-punk vs. Dylan approach to it.

We’ve posted The Black Ghosts a few times before — but their latest “Anyway You Choose To Give It” pretty much solidifies them as a bona fide favorite. Totally can’t wait for the album. Let’s say anticipation sucks.

I posted the original version of The Black Ghosts’ “Face” a month ago. The Teenagers have made the track a little bit more fantastic by destroying the creepiness of the original. It is a bit hard to judge which is better since the Teenagers take it in a different direction than The Black Ghosts, but it is at least at par.

I have to admit that I am totally 110% psyched for this mix. Totally. I’ve been sitting on it for a little while waiting for the nod. Today I got the go ahead — so yay for you! Brilliant sounds…

This is unmastered, but it is how it exists right now. I’m sure it will sound even better on 12″… speaking of which, “Face” has also been remixed by Switch and Kissy Sell Out. All three mixes will be released in January.
