New Young Pony Club and the Twelves are two artists we post a lot of work from — so when they combine, well watch out!! NYPC is releasing their umpteenth single from Fantastic Playroom — and “Get Lucky” is an obvious choice for a single. It’s catchy and upbeat and all the rest that makes a single a single. The Twelves put their own twist on the track — they’re easily becoming one of my favorites. Their mixes are consistently good and easy to like and they’ve nailed their own sound without being too trendy. The Twelves are the perfect match for NYPC…

Now that New Young Pony Club has totally blown up and is like Pitchfork’s darlings, we can just sit back and add them to the list of “we told you so-s.” Here’s their fabulous video for “Get Lucky” — the kids win.

I can’t believe someone hasn’t YouTubed this shit yet. New Young Pony Club’s “The Bomb” is a pretty straight forward performance video. I had pretty high expectations, but it ended up not so surprising — certainly not another “Ice Cream.” The song is rad though.

The single is to be released soonish on Modular. With remixes by The Teenagers, Phones and Kaos — I can’t tell you which I’m more psyched for. You can stream the Phones mix now on NYPC’s MySpace.

Ok, I know I’m not saying anything halfway intelligent because I’m in total fanboy ecstasy right now. Just listen.

The Gossip – “Jealous Girls” (NYPC 12″ remix) (mp3)

I’m not even pretending it’s is a perfect rip. Sooo.. go buy the record when it’s officially released Monday in the UK. Not holding my breath that KRS will release this in the US. The single is backed by a Tommie Sunshine remix which is great too — but nothing surprising as far as Tommie Sunshine goes.

Related: NYPC and the Gossip will be DJing Modular’s UK party at Turnmills on February 24th. The entire line up is fucking incredible: MSTRKRFT + Green Velvet + Klaxons (DJ) + New Young Pony Club (DJ) + Hot Chip (DJ) + The Gossip (DJ) + Ajax + Para One (live) + Modular DJs. Make me jealous and go to that.

Skins commercial with “SITWOC”

And if you don’t live in the UK, you might’ve missed that the Gossip’s “SITWOC” was used in a commercial for a new UK TV show called Skins. Wow, After watching that I suddenly feel very, very old. Of course we’ll get our own American version of Skins in about three years: I’m sure it’ll be on NBC, minus the drugs and sex. AND it’s guaranteed to be set in a coffee shop and have a non-stop laugh track throughout the entire show… and they’ll probably cast 30 year olds to play 16 year old virgins. But anyway.

I’m sure you are already familiar with all the players: New Young Pony Club, The SoftLightes, Gang of Neon. I believe this is Modular’s first party in L.A. — with that line up there’s no reason to miss it.

Just in time for the weekend: Bang Gang remix of “Ice Cream”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For whatever short sighted reason this mix was rejected by Modular. Wtf, right? It is certainly the most interesting mix so far of New Young Pony Club’s “Ice Cream.” Right up there with Van She and DJ Mehdi — in many ways better than. Pure madness.

New Young Pony Club recently got the full video treatment for their classic “Ice Cream.” Listen closely nerds. I believe this is a minor edit from the 12″ version we all already know and love. So happy to see this band signed to Modular. Is it an understatement to say that we expect big things?
