Etc Etc has kindly sent me Weird Tapes’s weird and wonderful version of Datarocks’ newie “Give It Up.” I’m quite enjoying Weird Tapes touch lately. Their version of ‘Serio’ by Lost Valentino’s is quirky goodness, and their originals are also fantastic. “Give It Up” will be out through Etc Etc soon.

Here’s a little late Friday treat for your ears… no secret that Datarock is a favorite around these parts. Their debut Datarock Datarock is finally seeing a Stateside release this June 12th thanks to Nettwerk. Everybody we know thinks they’re rad so hopefully they’ll gain more heat here with the masses.

Here’s a little unreleased Datarock action. Barely a song, “New Rave Anthem” feels more like an incomplete thought. But eh, certainly a treat for fans since you won’t find it on Datarock Datarock.

I just happened to cross paths with this delicious little remix of Datarock’s “i used to dance” by Para One. I’m having a hard time typing this up b/c I can’t stop dancing….I think these two need to make some more musical love babies.

So It’s been about a week since all the madness began. Too much crazy shit happened. We were pretty much the only ones representing every band with a dance routine. Most DJ’s don’t even support each other and most of them play the same shit. Bands rule, and rocking out drunk from noon until 2am for five days in a row pretty much kicks ass, and then it kicks your ass once you go back home. We had a blast and can’t wait to go again next year. Thanks to all the great DJ’s and bands that showed their love to the BigStereo family. In particular thanks to Spektrum, DJ Omar, Peaches, Johnny Love, DJ DJ Dylan, Franki Chan, Daniel, Yo Majesty, that awesome cab driver with the English accent from Texas, Cheyne, Nathan, Katrina, Walter Meego, Greg, Lo Fi Fnk, Lazaro, Factory People, and the rest of you that said hello or tried to dance. A Big fuck you to UV Vodka and Monster for the bad hang overs.

ANYWAY, next week’s Check Yo’ Ponytail party is with DATAROCK. Be prepared to dance like you never have before. If you’re in LA and miss this show then I dunno… there’s something wrong. The Datarock set I caught at SXSW was only 3 songs long but I think it was the hardest I danced in Austin. So go out and make sure you scream “Fa Fa Fa” for me:

You hopefully already know Shakes (not to be confused with The Shakes), and this is just a friendly reminder and not an introduction. At the very least, you probably already know their spectacular “Fa-Fa-Fa” remix… right?

“Sister Self Doubt” is one of those brilliant-in-a-post-LCD-Soundsystem type tracks, like total guitar driven dance music that hopefully we won’t be tired of anytime soon. This track sounds like a floor ready Rapture remix but like, um, it’s straight up instead.

Hopefully for Shakes sake, they won’t get lumped into or limited by any of that New Rave nonsense. Total tangent but speaking of New Rave: how surprising is that Klaxons album? I’m not sure the Klaxons are worth a full post anymore, but maybe they’re not a one trick pony after all.

Shakes – “Sister Self Doubt” (alternate version)

“Fa-Fa-Fa” is still like the greatest song ever. I could listen to it a million times over times fifty. There’s been pure love for the Shakes version too since it first dropped — though I’m not convinced it trumps Superstar’s mix. Good stuff:
