This track starts out with normal Freeform Five fanfare. Like, you know what to expect with their signature electro-house sound. Except when you’re about to just play it off, they surprise you and lay Alice Smith’s f’ing amazing vocals on top. The track ends up being anything but typical Freeform Five. About three minutes into the track, it seems to implode on itself and breaks down into a funky organic synth jam that’ll have you wishing for an extended dance floor mix. It almost reminds me of something Labelle or Chaka Khan would be doing if they were like 30 years younger and still about making crazy ass disco tracks.

Alice Smith – “Love Endeavour” (Freeform Five’s Freeform Reform) (mp3)

Rumor has it that a Maurice Fulton remix is in the works as well. Can’t wait to hear that.

Head over to Alice Smith’s Myspace and check out “Dream.” Her debut, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me drops soon, and judging from these teasers… hopefully will be huge. As time has told, I’m no judge for that, though… what should be huge and what ends up huge are rarely the same. Really though, I hope you give this a try no matter what side of the line you stand. Smith seems to tug at something… something almost primal. Her voice is timeless.
