WhoMadeWho – “Keep Me In My Plane”

While Gomma is known for putting out great records, they don’t always have the best history for videos. Priorities, right? So that said, I kept my expectations for WhoMadeWho’s “Keep Me In My Plane” low, but overall not a bad clip (like, it actually has a narrative) — so yeah, definitely one of the better video outputs from Gomma. And of course WhoMadeWho doesn’t disappoint on their third single from The Plot… now just gotta hold tight for the remixes from DJ Koze and Kasper Bjorke.

Purchase available from Juno.

Omg, this song.

Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya 22 Jun 2009 add to favs

Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya have been gone for a couple minutes, but they are back with a new song and video and promises of an upcoming ep. “Super Rick” might be a small nod to Rick James’ “Super Freak” but it is one hundred percent BBYYY.

Thunderheist + Futurecop! 21 Jun 2009 add to favs

thunderheist&futurecop!

Futurecop! recently took on Thunderheist with an unofficial remix for “Nothing 2 Step 2.” Futurecop! creates a thick dreamwave track by replacing a lot of the boom of the original with drops of synth. You can almost hear the neon.

Phoenix + Der Die Das 19 Jun 2009 add to favs

lisztomania

EtcEtc has sent over some more promo which gets me excited because it’s always good. This time it is for the Kitsune release of Phoenix’s “Lisztomania” remixes. The release features remixes by Holy Ghost!, Classixx, and the one below by Der Die Das which is one half of Digitalism – I’m not sure if it’s Jence or Isi. Someone let me know in a comment.

Anyway, overall it’s a good release. The Holy Ghost! mix is disappointing for Holy Ghost! standards. The Der Die Das mix is quite nice with a slight filter house feel with a nice punch. Classixx mix dominates and is pure genius. I would have posted the Classixx remix, but you know it already. I was also lucky enough to DJ with Classixx last night, and they not only played great music they were top guys too.

nrotb

NROTB is back with an official for Pony Pony Run Run. In typical NROTB fashion, this is a pretty huge club track with great attention to the vocals. They’ll be taking you on a ride. And hey, the whistle will get anyone in the mood to dance away their sins.

Pony Pony Run Run – “Hey You” (NROTB remix)

And the original is of course pretty much the single of the year. So perfect:

pearl fiction

Pearl Fiction is the solo project of Pearl from the much missed Zeigeist (r.i.p.). We won’t dwell too much on what happened and the drama, but we are anticipating some good things from this. Pearl made all of the music for the band, so we know to not expect any less. You can also go to his MySpace to check out an extra track and look for updates.

THEEMERGENCY_FANTASY

Continuing on from my Bottin post last week, I now have his remix of one of my favourite Melbourne bands The Emergency. Bottin’s remix is going to be released digitally alongside the original of “Fantasy” and a b-side track called “No Motion” on Metal Postcard or Exo in Australia. The Emergency also has a LP due soon titled Dreams That Money Can Buy. Metal Postcard and Exo are also releasing.

hercule & love affair sidetracked

It’s been a minute or two since we’ve heard anything new from Hercules and Love Affair. Well Hercules’ mastermind Andrew Butler has been busy with a new mix cd for Sidetracked, a new remix series from Renaissance. As you’d expect the track listing promises loads of late night disco and house. The best part for the real music nerds is the cd is two discs and features both mixed and unmixed versions of the tracks… perfect.

ALL LEATHER 16 Jun 2009 add to favs

Oh J.P.! He’s at it again with All Leather, maybe he has the record for being in the most bands ever. Seems we are going backwards in time, fuck electroclash, we are going even farther. These guys are on Dim Mak and are sure to turn some heads. I personally am into it, reminds me of the good old days in San Diego, can’t wait to be back there for a little bit.

We’re Tapes dropped a special treat today — “Bicycle” is the first product of a “collaboration” between Weird Tapes and Memory Cassette.

So.
