A few months old, but still delicious. I still can’t stop listening to ‘Goldskull’.
It’s been over a year that we posted something by the Bloody Beetroots and boy, did it stir up a very heated discussion. Well they are back with a remix of The Chemical Brothers “Dissolve”. I wonder whether they took notes from Travis’ post, because they are bringing more of the aggression we are used to in this not-so stale remix. They definitely made the build-ups much more explosive, making it their own.
They are also currently touring Europe with a full band as “The Bloody Beetroots DeathCrew 77″… “doing something new and daring and exciting” as Travis had dared them to do. They even reworked their older songs for this setup – from the “Cornelius” to their 2009 debut full-length Romborama. Definitely something to be excited about.
Hope you are in a video watching mood. New video from Pearl Fiction, can’t wait for the album to be released in March, not soon enough!
Will Silver Columns’ “Brow Beaten” ever get old? Not yet at least. And with a wave, or at least a ripple, of new remixes out, it definitely gets a bit of new life. Nothing really touches the original (or at least maybe the Joe Goddard remix), but it’s nice to hear a fresh take from Dreamtrak. No complaints.
N*E*R*D got us thinking today — maybe it’s they’re new album Nothing is out today or maybe because they wrapped the site. But they’re doing to bloghouse in 2010 what they did to rock in 2001… And somehow it is easier to believe when it’s coming from N*E*R*D rather than Kayne. Kinda makes it feel relevant in a bigger picture type way. Proof…

Our friends Punches are coming out with their first release on Travis Hayden’s (ex IHEARTCOMIX) brand spanking new Our Label. Throwing some of the best events in NY was just the beginning for these guys and like all the smart ones in NY they are branching out and attempting to take over in all the music venues. Their disco smoothness and wacky concepts are what have us glued to the speakers. Make sure to check out their EP ‘Sleepless City’ that also includes a funky late 90′s disco house inspired remix by none other than Treasure Fingers. If you haven’t partied with these guys or been at one of their show’s then you haven’t seen the real NY, help support these guys and keep the big city alive.
Spruce Lee’s production is going from strength to strength and so is YES YES Records everything just keeps getting better! Toni Toni Lee’s Last Love is a nice vintage house groover with 808 and some funked out synth and talk box. Which really makes this a standout release though is the quality and diversity of the remixes from the likes of UK heavyweight Todd Edwards, Chesca and Yorke, Diamond Lights, and Hello Buttons. Looking forward to more Toni Toni Lee and Yes Yes Record releases!

Fools Gold prince Donnis has just been remixed by The Finger Prince. 2 princes must make a right? Anyway Gus Da Hoodrat and Frank Xavier from Infusion fame have done a great job turning Donnis’s debut single “Gold” into a club monster. Watch out for the release on October 15th on Etc Etc/Fools Gold. Go Gus you sex legend!
Purchase at iTunes.
Here’s a slick new video from Young Empires — and while it reads a bit like a Nike commercial, Young Empires seem to be the masters of melting the visuals with their tunes. Visuals aside, another stellar track from the band. Wonderful.
Bonjay gives Caribou’s “Jamelia” a pulse and life of its own. Jamelia becomes flesh and blood. The real deal.
