Fuck this cold weather and fuck this flu. I received this wonderful video in my inbox today and it made my day. I wanna find myself a cute ginger to spend the day with in London.
I love David E. Sugar, years and years have passed and finally a full length has been released, a great “listen to all the way album” too. This video is adorable and perfect on a cold but sunny afternoon.
Someday the Dove, Diamonds and Machine will leave their songbirds and form their own supergroup. Until then, enjoy this earthsong.
“Blue Boys/Blue Girls” from Headman’s 1923 album was one of the standouts from the record. For Headman’s latest offering he has added two alternate vocals (one male – Blue Boys and one female – Blue Girls) to the former instrumental to create two new versions. Blue Boys features vocals by Dave Okumo from London outfit The Invisible and Blue Girls features Jackie from Newcastle new wave garage band Retriever. To add to the brilliance Headman has recruited Chmmr, Richard D. Clouston, and Mickey to provide remixes. Here is my favourite cut from the single.
Florrie takes a bit of an unexpected turn on her latest EP, “Introduction.” Perhaps it’s because the first half of he career focused on remixes, in fact, very few originals popped to the surface until recently. I had Florrie painted as somewhat zealous, huge dance pop star something akin to Girls Outloud, but we’re being introduced to a different side — something a bit more chill. Still produced though, way produced. And still pop, way pop. You have to kinda wonder if this is actually “Reintroduction”. Whatever. The EP is nothing not to like, love might be too strong but a solid release…
And here is a remix by a Bigstereo favorite. Yay.
Sharam Jey has just dropped his latest single “The Things” which features Tommie Sunshine on vocals. The single has a stack of remixes to please all including remixes from Junior Sanchez, Cyberpunkers, Funkerman, Acid Washed and more. I’ve also done a fairly chilled remix which I’m sure you can find somewhere on the internet. “The Things” is out through Sharam’s own King Kong records find it here.
World’s End Press from Melbourne (told you) are all the rage in the car the past few days. Reminds me so much of a modern Happy Mondays with a little !!! thrown in for good measure. These guys could easily bring the indie dance scene back and get kids off the telly and back on the drugs and alcohol. I’m sure you will be hearing more from them soon. Their Pet Shop Boy’s cover is brilliant as well, and sure got me in the mood for some gayties.
Look out for a lot of music coming out of Australia again here soon. Here’s the always great Super Melody.
We’re sponsoring a rave, yes a rave. It was really expensive to rent the time machine for this event so make sure to be there with drugs and glow sticks. It’s gonna be a little intense, and some of my buddies from San Diego and myself are playing that night, oh yeah and some other little dudes that might seem relevant to the younger crowd. I am fucking old, but I will be there. Check out this link for tickets here at Autumn Addict.
If you’ve been following iamamiwhoami’s YouTube the past few days then you know something special was about to happen… and it has. To Whom It May Concern is their first live concert “experience” — and truly unique in a way that can only be iamamiwhoami. Watch it: http://towhomitmayconcern.cc/
Up for six hours only. They say. It is what it is.
Just don’t accidentally hit reload like I did or you’ll have to start over at the beginning :/
These guys are killing it. I don’t need to say anything. Watch the video. Listen to the mp3. Boom. Light Year.
Crayon Fields finished their US tour and are back on homeland, and we truly miss them. I got a chance to play with these kids for one night here in California and they put on a great show and got all the hearts thumping. I hope they make it back soon. They sent over a wonderful remix that will make anyone in Ray-Ban’s break out dancing. All I want for Christmas is a new Crayon Fields album.
Depeche Mode is THE first band I ever fell in love, thanks to my cousin, back in ’92 when I was listening to Dr Dre, Das EFX, Black Sheep, etc… my cousin left me in his room watching several concert videos. It was something completely new to me and moved me in a way I had never experienced at the ripe age of 11. It was amazing and changed my life forever! ANYWAYS, the point of this story is that we are giving away a copy of “Tour of the Universe” which will be released on Nov 9th and to the winner of this, I hope that you will share it with someone and change their lives too. We are also giving away a copy of the poster above. To enter, simply “Like” our Depeche Mode story directly from our Facebook page! US winners only.
Yes, it’s definitely a summer jam but it still feels like summer in LA. It’s Saturday night and I’m getting ready for a night out that will hopefully end with some karaoke in Little Tokyo… I just wish they would add some Dragonette to their catalog!
