The next 2 songs have been a couple of my favs from the start of the year.

Tenderlions

Tenderlions

June 25th, 2009

Tenderlions are an incredible duo that I’ve been trying to show some blog love to for quite a while. They are constantly working on something new and fresh. Concentrating more on the live show has been their main focus, and it’s a good thing because once these guys hit the big leagues their live show [...]

Burns

Burns

June 24th, 2009

Burns has another original out the gate. “Heatbeats” is a little less grittier than his previous work. There is more an emphasis on melody, maybe even some dream wave influences on the track. But it still packs some heavy punches so maybe we should call it dream rave, oi. Anyway, “Heartbeats” is definitely a warmer [...]

Marina and the Diamonds – “I Am Not A Robot”
Marina (and, uh, the Diamonds) sports body paint and bedazzles for her new video, “I Am Not A Robot.” You already know the single is out on Neon Gold.

The Revenge

The Revenge

June 23rd, 2009

Edit savvy The Revenge has Part Three of the “Instruments of Rapture” series coming out soon. It features more pitched down house tunes from him and fellow Scotsman OOFT (they also run L.E.S.S productions). I was lucky enough to catch The Revenge when he was in Australia last month, and he didn’t disappoint. He keeps [...]

WhoMadeWho

WhoMadeWho

WhoMadeWho – “Keep Me In My Plane”
While Gomma is known for putting out great records, they don’t always have the best history for videos. Priorities, right? So that said, I kept my expectations for WhoMadeWho’s “Keep Me In My Plane” low, but overall not a bad clip (like, it actually has a narrative) — so [...]

Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya

June 22nd, 2009

Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya have been gone for a couple minutes, but they are back with a new song and video and promises of an upcoming ep. “Super Rick” might be a small nod to Rick James’ “Super Freak” but it is one hundred percent BBYYY.

Thunderheist + Futurecop!

Thunderheist + Futurecop!

June 21st, 2009

Futurecop! recently took on Thunderheist with an unofficial remix for “Nothing 2 Step 2.” Futurecop! creates a thick dreamwave track by replacing a lot of the boom of the original with drops of synth. You can almost hear the neon.

Phoenix + Der Die Das

Phoenix + Der Die Das

June 19th, 2009

EtcEtc has sent over some more promo which gets me excited because it’s always good. This time it is for the Kitsune release of Phoenix’s “Lisztomania” remixes. The release features remixes by Holy Ghost!, Classixx, and the one below by Der Die Das which is one half of Digitalism – I’m not sure if it’s [...]

Pony Pony Run Run + NROTB

Pony Pony Run Run + NROTB

June 19th, 2009

NROTB is back with an official for Pony Pony Run Run. In typical NROTB fashion, this is a pretty huge club track with great attention to the vocals. They’ll be taking you on a ride. And hey, the whistle will get anyone in the mood to dance away their sins.

Pearl Fiction

Pearl Fiction

June 17th, 2009

Pearl Fiction is the solo project of Pearl from the much missed Zeigeist (r.i.p.). We won’t dwell too much on what happened and the drama, but we are anticipating some good things from this. Pearl made all of the music for the band, so we know to not expect any less. You can also go [...]

The Emergency + Bottin

June 17th, 2009

Continuing on from my Bottin post last week, I now have his remix of one of my favourite Melbourne bands The Emergency. Bottin’s remix is going to be released digitally alongside the original of “Fantasy” and a b-side track called “No Motion” on Metal Postcard or Exo in Australia. The Emergency also has a LP [...]

Hercules and Love Affair

June 16th, 2009

It’s been a minute or two since we’ve heard anything new from Hercules and Love Affair. Well Hercules’ mastermind Andrew Butler has been busy with a new mix cd for Sidetracked, a new remix series from Renaissance. As you’d expect the track listing promises loads of late night disco and house. The best part for [...]

Oh J.P.! He’s at it again with All Leather, maybe he has the record for being in the most bands ever. Seems we are going backwards in time, fuck electroclash, we are going even farther. These guys are on Dim Mak and are sure to turn some heads. I personally am into it, reminds me [...]

Memory Tapes

June 15th, 2009

We’re Tapes dropped a special treat today — “Bicycle” is the first product of a “collaboration” between Weird Tapes and Memory Cassette.
So.
Memory Cassette + Weird Tapes = Memory Tapes… or, what a strange long journey to create a record that basically sounds like Hail Social at their best:
