This might be a bit late, but got around to peeping homes remixes lately and yeah, the cool kids are past it. But the REAL interesting thing is how fast homies production game came on. The DoggSnoop smell a ghost...

Have to agree with hank, remix is boring, doesen't offer anything new, and the sound is out of date to me.

North America - exactly, mate. The bullshit bottle service club circuit that caters to the lowest common denominator. I've been there, seen it, and yes I agree with you, that crowd is still loving it. I've been listening to dance music for over ten years, been writing about it for at least half that time, and I'm more than qualified to give an informed opinion. Again, its just an opinion, no need to make it personal.

you must not dj much. if you did, you'dd know that crowds are still very much into "‘already past it’s expiration date’ sound of Crookers/BloodyBeetroots/etc.."

I'd argue that its very hard to find a listenable simple remix these days as most producers are trying to push the limits of music with bizarre offputting sounds and melodies that don't have any harmony.

Grandtheft produces music that appeals to an audience and that dj's aren't afraid to drop might they ruin a dance floor. Which is why he's one of north americas top booked dj's and you aren't...

Fun is subjective, just as much as my opinion of this track. I'm just putting my thoughts out there in hopes of inspiring some quality control in the blogosphere. Do you really want more remixes of say, "We Are Your Friends," ? It's the law of diminishing returns in action. And no, I'm probably not his target market since I think this track is played out beyond belief and I didn't like his recent remix of Chris Cornyell either.

Something tells me you're not his target audience.
(i.e. hyper-analytical people who don't enjoy fun)

Really? After a year and over a dozen superior remixes (Joakim, Aeroplane, Calvin Harris, Holy Ghost to name just a few) this doesn't break any new ground. In fact it replaces the emotional tension and musicality of the original and re-contextualizes it to fit within the framework of the 'already past it's expiration date' sound of Crookers/BloodyBeetroots/etc, albeit in a less menacing and more watered down way.

Grandtheft has been churning out the remixes lately. He should slow his roll and focus on quality over quantity, instead of trying to so overtly ape the sounds of a genre that is already on it's way out.
