The Gossip

The Gossip – “Heavy Cross” (live @ MTV Prom)

Well, 2009 is shaping up as the year that all our old favorite bands are making their return to the spotlight: including The Gossip with their post-success, Rick Rubin produced album — Music for Men. The lead single “Heavy Cross” follows the same garage rock-disco-blues path as Standing In The Way of Control. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not. Evolution would be nice, but more of the same from The Gossip is ok with me. Music for Men hits UK stores June 22nd and is destined for US shelves four months later. That mean it’ll chart in the UK but will do awful domestically because everyone will have download it before then… Miss U Kill Rock Stars.

Anyway… Ditto will have a busy Summer not only with the Gossip. She has a spot on the new Simian Mobile Disco album and is launching a collection for Evans (I think that’s like the UK version of Layne Bryant). If it couldn’t get any more bizarre, Beth Ditto is also the subject of a new doll… like an official doll. Cool idea, but the final product is kinda creepy (do the boobs detach??)… look for it in toy stores at the bottom of the bargain bin:

  1. Whoa can you say out of tune!

  2. sounds better live than mastered. thats fo dam sho’

  3. really putting that crass shirt to shame to be quite honest.

  4. well, maybe crass would approve. They’ve got a female lead singer, they’re out of tune, AND they can’t play in time.
