Crossover: The Intravenous Interview
2 April 2009 :: posted by Rchrd Oh?!Hey Rat Boy and Rat Girl, time for another interview to get the drones of this planet semi-amused in this world of constant media and text! Always a damn pleasure to get a hold of you guys and catch up. How
does the sky look where you are at and where are you currently?
It’s always kvl talkin’ to u as u have been a trve head and svpporter ov the CROSS from the beginning.
We met at one ov our gigz in LA ‘round Halloween 2002, right?
We r hiding out in the Northwest now in an old Victorian house and yes, the sky is falling.
Yeah we met that long ago. Scary! What the fuck have you two space crusaders been doing since the last time we spoke? It seems like a few light years since we have had you on this life waster/taste maker aka the internet?
U could say we have cvm back down to earth after spending some time in the outer realm. Space was peaceful and quiet, yet lonely.
The amount of time we spent away is uncertain but, we did in fact make contact while out there. Our decision was to return home. For now our mission is here on this planet.

Any way we can get some info on the new personas/names? Who are we speaking to right now?
We would like to be now known as Ratboy and Ratgirl.
We identify with the rat for its ability to survive and thrive.
For us we see a lot ov trash and at times we feel tested upon. We feed on it and regurgitate it back into the wurld.
Rat is our style.
So you have this new album out now Space Death. Just like your albums before this it tells a story and this one seems to be more focused on life on earth. You guys landed here?
The trip back was a rough one. An odd frequency drew us in. We crash landed in a field.
We were found by a local that offered us to stay at his house.
We took him up on it and spent some months in the basement re-acclimating to the atmosphere.
Soon after we recorded these songs.
This is a story ov our experience back here on earth. Visions of despair.
Why so long in between recordings? You guys have 3 albums on your belt in the 8 years since
being introduced. Is it crazy to think you’ve been doing it this long?
Our albvms tell us when they wanna be made and we jvst heed their call. Jvst like our nomadic instincts which have kept us on the move over the years.
In between our albvms; Fantasmo, Cryptic and Dire Sallow Faced Hoods Blast Off Into Oblivon, and SPACE DEATH we have released many thingz into the UG for the Mystik Trvcker Association. There waz a Maxi 12” which included a remix, a cartoon episode on vinyl, and the 2-trak recording ov “Over Exposure” along with a video to go with it. We call all ov our output Anti-Cvlt propaganda and unleash most ov it via our non-label. We also pvt out svm oddz and endz on limited hand numbered CDR for the svpporters svch as the “Demos, Bootlegz, and Remixes” release that had a kvl Remix ov “Lady Dragon Slayer”and 5 other rare trax. The purpose ov that release waz a reaction to certain creeps that were taking our muzik and releasing it without our knowledge and OK, So we said fvk it, stole our own muzik back and pvt it out ourselves. There was the “OB-TV/Night Hawks” single ov lost trax from the “Basement Sessions” – these were songz that were meant to be on the “Cryptic..” albvm. Following that, we made more vidz for “Apples on a stick” and “I know Your Face”. Over the years headz could also get their handz on 7 Issues ov our zines – the CRSSVR Pirate Communiques which r currently not in circulation. There have been numerous fashions made by us ov Limited CRSSVR Regalia including hand screened shirts, patches, record bags, badges and other thingz. If one were to look hard enough, there are over 30 compilations that have CRSSVR songz on them that also feature alternate versions. There is even a 7” picture disc ov “Lucida Obscura” out there svmwhere… Available now is a digital download release ov 3 raw live trax taken form a gig in Berlin during the “Oblivion” tour. So needless to say we have stayed bz during this time.
It is important that people know that we r not jvst a band. We make muzik, art, photography, short-films, clothing, and periodicals that serve as a medium to further spread the word about our sound, style, and ideology. We have many projex in the werx including a series ov limited shirt designs, more vidz, and other actions on the CRSSVR front that will soon be revealed. Keep yr eyes peeled cvz it may pass u by.
The universe needz more CRSSVR musick so we have put this into motion by having our next albvm nearly finished.
“Black Mess” is a little hard to swallow for the people on earth today, but it is a reality. I seriously say the things you preach in that song on a normal basis. What is getting you to finally say those things, what motivations? I can definitely hear some ‘Zeitgeist’ and maybe some ‘Inconvenient Truth’ in that as if sung by a 70’s art punk band.
This one goes out to all the fake magicians and the supposed living.
In no way is it meant to be preachy. We r jvst trying to exorcise svm demons.
We feel that humanz r full ov shit with the retarded thingz that they get their headz mixed vp in and choose to submit themselves to, such as false gods and fairytales.
We have little time for watered down and jumbled vp esoteric internet occultism and conspiracy theories. How can anyone make any sense ov all those conflicting opinions and so-called trvths. Svre, it’s good to have a clue but, it is really ez to get mega bummed out when taking in a few hours ov this stvff. It’s not good for the mind. It will make u paranoid. Try watching a full-length film on factory farming.
Humans r fvkin’ vp the earth but, indeed the earth is bigger and more bad ass than them.
Animal’s r beasts, but men r monsters.
What small things can you think of that you two do that might help this world from collapsing and what can any other people do to help?
Inspire.
Motivate.
Mobilize.
Network.
Organize.
Turn it upside down!
We r really too full ov sarcasm and sickness to give anyone advice.
We wanna see this place crack open with razor sharp teeth and swallow itself whole.
In “Computer Simulated Mountains” you speak of this planet that’s so obsessed in things that aren’t real that they fail to see this planet for what it is worth. Why do you think we’ve become so dependent on
such phony things?
We feel this has happened because we have progressively distanced ourselves to the once strong and vital relationship to the earth.
The root ov the problem may be domestication, religion, then the industrial revolution, and the self inflicted numb-skull existence. De-evolution – perhaps?
Humans are more lonely now than ever before yet it seems we mostly get more comfort in being alone enjoying the things that make us happy and end up not worrying about anyone else which is the cause of
this whole mess, how can we pull that plug?
It’s not surprising as sensory beings in a society motivated by commerce and controlled by fear, which tries to stamp out the fires ov individuality that we would have any other desire but to enslave ourselves with food, fighting, and fvking. Work, sleep, work, sleep. Drugz, Toys, and shopping. Do jvst that – unplug.
What the fuck were you guys thinking releasing “I Think I Wanna Kill Myself.” do we need an intervention?
No intervention necessary. It’s jvst a song.
I think “Caveman to Spaceman” is one of my favorite tracks on this release. It’s creepy italo-horror synths and jazzy feel come together like butter and toast. It’s very Tones on Tail for the people of today. What was the influence on this track and can you please make sure to play this on your next tour?
It deals with the hope that technological advancements will return us and the earth back to a natural state.
What are your guys plans as far as tour goes? You’ve had us waiting too damn long.
We r gathering all ov our weapons now and will be cvmin’ to yr neck ov the woodz soon!
Lock vp yr daughters. You have been forewarned.
So people have tried to label your music since the beginning and nothing’s stuck or lasted as long as you two. What is “Gloom” all about?
GLOOM is our sound. It is a dark craft that deals with misanthropy, nature, and the aesthetics of evil.
It’s dirty and spaced out. At times sad. It has the beauty, the beast, and the beat.
GLOOM is murky electronic music made vp ov bass, drumz, and synthesizers.
Always has been – always will be.
This album comes out on Punch Records, tell us a little about that. Aything there besides label and artist?
PUNCH Records is totally behind us. We wanted a more cvlt and underground forum for our muzik. We felt this is a dark and emotional albvm and it chose it’s home with this obscure Italian Label.

It’d be a lot better if there were no vocals on this track. It makes the whole thing sound amateur.
//
However, a bit here and there would be nice.
//
It sounds like they should work with 80kidz to make music. This sounds like a b-side to “Alt A”.
