Colouring In

Colouring In is Tom Neville and Henry Yeah. And their “Intergalactic Romantic” has been getting some mad blog love this past month — with good reason. Lazy comparisons will put Colouring In up against Hercules And Love Affair. Certainly there is a quality shared between the disco undertones and cerebral vocals. But there is a certain New Order-ish quality to Colouring In that isn’t really present in Hercules And Love Affair… which is the start to setting them apart. Anyway. Enough this and that so I’ll let the tune speak for itself:

Make sure you check out the rest of the songs on their MySpace — all are gold.

this IS a nice post.
really like the overall sound, though as other poster said the vocals are a little off-putting. I dont think hes a BAD vocalist, and they actually fit in the track but its not my favorite type of vocalist.

the vocals are definitely love/hate. honestly… took about three weeks to grow on me. the first time i heard i turned it off but then kept revisiting…

i think his vocals are much easier to get into than antony’s. shrug. but a lot of people said that they needed to a couple of listens but now everyone loves it. even you! good boy!

I agree the vocals are easier to get into here. They seem a lot more appropriate to me in a retro way, and less anachronistic, if that makes sense. I mean I’m not sure if someone’s voice can be a “homage” per se, but it certainly fits well.
Besides, uncommon vocals can be a good thing. What we really need are some David Thomas Broughton remixes.
