Fever Ray

February 16th, 2009

Fever Ray – “When I Grow Up” While I am enjoying Fever Ray’s album, I am not loving it like I am loving the videos. They’re so poetic in a way that the album is never quite able to be. “When I Grow Up” is simple in premise but beautiful in the way it builds [...]

The Presets

February 14th, 2009

The Presets put out a new video for “If I Know You” directed by Eva Husson. Absolutely brilliant. Totally love the narrative on this one. Easily one of The Presets most bizzarre/beautiful/haunting songs, Husson is flawlessly able to transfer the mood to film.

Drums of Death + Peaches

Drums of Death + Peaches

February 13th, 2009

Word is Drums of Death has been working with his pal Peaches on some new material for what we can only assume will be on her new album. Yeah, this is a pair that could do some real damage. DOD put together a mixtape working his magic on some new and old tracks — this [...]

Circlesquare

February 12th, 2009

Circlesquare – “Dancers” from Bienvenido Cruz (Vimeo) New video for Circlesquare’s “Dancers” directed by Bienvenido Cruz — the video is clearly inspired by Robert Longo and does a brilliant job translating his work to video. I dunno if we’ve given Songs About Dancing and Drugs enough love yet but this album is a definitely an [...]

Hunx and His Punx

February 11th, 2009

Hunk and His Punx – “Cruising” (YouTube) Gravy Train’s Hunx has a solo project and has sent us his video for “Cruising”. Influenced by the cruisy leather and denim scene in San Francisco in the 70′s this video hits the spot. Check out his full length coming out soon.

FrankMusik + Fan Death

FrankMusik + Fan Death

February 11th, 2009

Frankmusik’s new single is set to hit store shelves April 2. “Better Off As Two” isn’t your typical breakup song… kinda uplifting. Fan Death and Frankmusik himself deliver two remixes. The Fan Death remix is good, would be great with vocals, but good enough. Hell, we’re hungry enough for anything from Fan Death: [Audio clip: [...]

Oli Chang and Christian Bale

February 10th, 2009

Of course we’ve all heard Christian Bale’s rant, well now thanks to Oli Chang(Theatre of Disco) and Troy Planet it’s been made written into history even more with a dance version. Makes Christian Bale seem not so crazy, I personally would still not throw him out of bed. Love the name of the track, haha [...]

Sportsday Megaphone

February 10th, 2009

Sportsday Megaphone – “Meet You In The Middle” Sportsday Megaphone just put up a brilliant animated video for his new single “Meet Me In The Middle.” It starts out all cute and stuff with animals playing in a park and then — the twist. You’ll just have to watch and see but I was def [...]

Asobi Seksu + Twins

Asobi Seksu + Twins

February 9th, 2009

Twins is back with another upbeat remix, this time for Asobi Seksu. I love that that the best tricks are reserved for the vocals turning them into some subtle diy pop. The lushness of the original is muted but it’s still quite beautiful: [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Asobi Seksu – “Familiar Light” [...]

Passions

February 8th, 2009

Passions has been busy working on an epic two hour mix for Mishka. To build up some hype, this little teaser has been floating around the Internet — a healthy dose of nu-goth with some darkwave undertones. There are def some essential tracks here. Can’t wait for the full thing… until then this thirty-four minute [...]

Don Diablo

Don Diablo

February 8th, 2009

Don Diablo has officially become the most (over?) hyped dj/producer of 2009. Like, an endless stream of mp3s and remixes. “Like a Pro” is the first to really yank my attention… it’s fuzzy vox line that sounds like it has been shaken endlessly all night long. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Don Diablo [...]

VV Brown + Little Boots

VV Brown + Little Boots

February 7th, 2009

Two of the hottest UK acts team up on “Leave” — in true Little Boots fashion she calls the VV Brown track her own by adding her vocals and magical synth touches. There’s something wonderfully uncomfortable about this one: [Audio clip: view full post to listen] VV Brown featuring Little Boots – “Leave” And another [...]

Little Boots + AC Slater + Skeet Skeet + Goldielocks

Little Boots + AC Slater + Skeet Skeet + Goldielocks

February 5th, 2009

AC Slater and DJ Skeet Skeet mix up “Meddle” by playing off the bounce of the original track. But it is Goldielocks’ party rap line over the track which makes this one super special. Kinda funny that both Treasure Fingers’ remix and Baron von Luxxury’s remix of “Meddle” also add extra vox — “Meddle” must [...]

Ted & Francis

Ted & Francis

February 5th, 2009

Kitsune electro-pop crooners Ted & Francis sent over a few new tunes… two in the way of rejected Sebastien Tellier remixes and one original. The Tellier remixes will have you scratching your head as to why they were rejected — especially the “chiller” mix with it’s hot keys. But it makes you wonder if there [...]

Elke + Fromage

Elke + Fromage

February 4th, 2009

The Gold Coast foursome that is Elke are at it again with the new tune “Blue Dream Lover.” It’s a structured synth pop tune which creates a late 80’s/early 90’s memory in my mind. Quite different to the Elke tunes I posted back here. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Elke – “Blue Dream [...]

La Roux

February 4th, 2009

La Roux – “In For The Kill” Oh look, it’s La Roux driving a car… like she’s going back to the future or something. The video is kinda pointless (disappointing even) but the song makes up for all that, of course. The single will be released on Polydor on March 16th. If you know who’s [...]

Lioness + CCENTURIESS

Lioness + CCENTURIESS

February 4th, 2009

Heads up on a new production team out of Toronto calling themselves CCENTURIESS. Their first remix is for Lioness (members include ex-contoller.contoller), and it’s a show stopper. CCENTURIESS layer Vanessa Fischer’s thick vocals onto an epic disco track. This one is reserved for dark nights with lots of stars. Brilliant. Made me fall in love [...]
