IMO the difference in the sound came more from the first being recorded in NYC and the 2nd being recorded in LA.. not the difference between passion and laziness. i can't put it any other way.. they just *sound* like they were recorded/influenced in/by those cities, respectively. there was soul and quality in SYB and honestly, while Fever To Tell had better singles, after being so used to the raw energy of the live versions of the songs they had before Fever To Tell even came out, once I heard the "album versions" they felt.. sapped in comparison. with that being said i love love love this new track and am excited for the new album. i've been following the YYYs for just about as long, however i can't agree on SYB.. I agree, "Bones..." lacked something, and you hit it right on the head. Thanks to "Zero" and hopefully the rest of the album, I'm once more a FAN. I heard that for the track, none of the band members let Nick Zinner use a guitar, and that's why there's so much synth in the track.
