Fever Ray – “If I Had a Heart” (YouTube)

Fever Ray’s video for “If I Had a Heart” owned me for four minutes and five seconds. Very special. Directed by Andreas Nilsson, this is a total masterpiece.

  2. cant wait for the full length!!

  3. It is also worth noticing that Karin Dreijer will be returning as one of the guest vocalists on Röyksopp’s new album “junior” due to be released march 23rd this year.

    Happy happy!

  4. I’m sorry, but I am SO disappointed with Fever Ray & Karin Dreijer in general. I think this song is a big uninspired yawn (tho the video is extraordinary) and after hearing the full length (which leaked a couple days ago), I’ve gotta say that her new found egomania is a huge determent to her songwriting and artistic integrity. And believe me, I’m sad about it… I’ve followed her since the Honey is Cool days.

Before people jump on me, I know she relies heavily on the visual aesthetic to bring her music full circle, but the Fever Ray album is just flaccid all around.

    • hm, i’ve only listened to the lp once so far and haven’t formed a solid opinion yet –

but her ego is not getting in the way for me. it just feels like a different jumping off point, etc. there is a certain bjorkish feel to it that is a bit of a turn off (like being different for differents sake and not for any other reason). perhaps it is karin’s egomania creeping in (?) (and i wouldn’t say there’s a bjorkish feeling to the knife).

regardless of its pitfalls there are some very special moments on the album. and the video really does bring it all back… i wish the video was carried out for the entire album. actually, that’d be best.

      • industry. As far as I’m concerned, if you don’t have an ego, it’s like not having a penis. You just don’t do it. So far, I’m not digging the lack of ego or the lack of penis in her music.

      • Yeah I totally agree. Ego is a major part of the music …

  5. I don’t care about her ego, I’d just like to see her hooters.
