Wildlife + Terry Lynn

Wildlife + Terry Lynn

October 17th, 2008

Wildlife just sent through this wonderful remix he did with Terry Lynn and Crystal Castles. Mashups, rerubs, whatever are a dime a dozen but this one is super solid — probably partly due to Wildlife’s previous production work with Ms. Lynn. Anyway, I’ll never listen to “Knights” alone again…

Friendly Fires

October 16th, 2008

Friendly Fires video for “Paris” was recently remade by Chris Sweeney — not sure what was wrong with the original, but the new take is a kaleidoscope of epic proportions and quite beautiful.
The song itself is getting a second release on XL (the original single was out last year on Moshi Moshi). Besides having a [...]

Act Yo Age

October 16th, 2008

Australia djs Act Yo Age are releasing their first EP on Ajax’s Sweat It Out! label (home to Gameboy/Gamegirl as well). As it has come to be expected from Sweat It Out, we should be prepared for lots and lots of bounce on this release. Best off, two excellent remixes from Edu K and Shir [...]

Weird Tapes

Weird Tapes

October 15th, 2008

I’ll admit, been kinda holding off on a Weird Tapes post for way too long now — if you’re not familiar, Weird Tapes is a solo project/off shoot of Hail Social.
“My Babe Walk” is the latest track from Weird Tapes and is kinda driving and haunting at the same time… not to mention the [...]

Daedelus + The Death Set

Daedelus + The Death Set

October 15th, 2008

Leave it to the Death Set to make such a fun and ridiculous remix of Daedelus’ “Fair Weather Friends” — I had a smile on my face from start to finish with this one. I almost expected a party to invade my living room as I listened… anyway, Death Set for the win:

vitaminsforyou + NROTB

vitaminsforyou + NROTB

October 15th, 2008

Here’s a little morning afternoon banger from vitaminsforyou and NROTB… “B4U” is vitaminsforyou’s latest single and has gotten a big club mix from Montreal’s NROTB. Love how the remix plays off the vocals/lyrics — and it does it’s job by making me hungry to hear the original.

Le Corps Mince De Françoise + Les Gillettes

Le Corps Mince De Françoise + Les Gillettes

October 14th, 2008

Le Corps Mince De Françoise, our favorite band to emerge from Helsinki since I dunno when, has a new single coming out October 29th on New Judas. You can stream “Ray-Ban Glasses” in it’s entirety on the band’s MySpace (duh). While previous comparisons of the band have ranged from Chicks on Speed to CSS, with [...]

MIT

MIT

October 13th, 2008

When we first posted about MIT a couple years ago, they were making quick, brash electro-punk tracks that might’ve been discarded as neu rave or something entirely else. I dug the synth/hard aesthetic but wanted something a little more evolved from the trio. Well with their first full length Coda my desires were met. There’s [...]

Instamatic

October 12th, 2008

You may remember that fabulous Crimp Yr Hair remix we posted of Hail Social a few months ago?.. well the boys from Crimp Yr Hair have put that project on a mini hiatus and have a started a new band called Instamatic with two other bros. The four of them all play synths so obviously [...]

Tybalt

Tybalt

October 11th, 2008

When we first posted Tybalt almost a year ago with their remixes for Damn Arms and Cut Your Hands Off, I was pretty much in love. But then they quickly became on of those “whatever happened to” artists. Well wonder no more because Tybalt is back and with an original tune this time around. “Dado [...]

Le Castle Vania

Le Castle Vania

October 10th, 2008

If I were to make a top ten list of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins songs “Zero” would be at the top… which might be one reason I fell instantly in love with Le Castle Vania’s “Zero Machine.” It’s kinda obvious this track samples the Pumkins song pretty heavily — right down to the “Wanna go [...]

WOW + Bumblebeez

WOW + Bumblebeez

October 9th, 2008

Like woah, stare at this new photo of WOW and you might suffer some serious optic nerve damage. Bumblebeez recently worked their production magic on WOW’s “Icy Cold” and created something that won’t cause any optic nerve damage. While, the original was dark and brooding, Bumblebeez has created something a bit more bouncy. But like [...]

IAMX + Designer Drugs

IAMX + Designer Drugs

October 9th, 2008

Another week, another Designer Drugs banger — this time for another BIGSTEREO fav, Chris Corner’s alter ego IAMX. IAMX’s vox are kinda soaring on this one. The whole thing ends up bigger than life like a house diva on a 90’s track. Of course, this isn’t a 90’s house track. It doesn’t sound remotely that [...]

As you can tell from the photo above, The Toxic Avenger has lost his mask and now has beams of lights shooting out of his face. Maybe he wore the mask to keep the light in. Maybe. Anyway I guess masked djs are out and luminescent djs are in…
