Mt. Sims

Mt. Sims

We posted a Mt. Sims reminder post a couple months back — well now Sim’s third full length Happily Ever After is right around the corner and the promo cycle is in full swing.

“The Bitten Bite Back” is a surprising new direction — We got a glimpse of this with “Grave,” but Mt. Sims has ditched electro-pop and gone for a more mature sound that seems to be channeling Joy Division or something at times… Still, Sims is working with some similar themes but the entire package is a welcoming change of pace. Even though “The Bitten Bite Back” is kind of comfortable, it’s one of my favorite new songs:

Nu-Goth has been kinda bubbling under the surface for the past twelve months or so — Happily Ever After will only add fuel to the fire. Look for it in stores October 21st, 2008.

no one who heard his last album 'wild light' (which is excellent) would call this a surprising new direction. he's been heading this direction ever since then and it sounds great.
