HEARTSREVOLUTION

15 September 2008 :: posted by Travis

IHEARTCOMIX is releasing HEARTSREVOLUTION’s Switchblade EP on October 21st. If you happened to catch the EP on ISOMORPHS then you’ll be happy to know that the new EP has a slightly different tracklisting with a couple new tracks you haven’t yet heard. Most noticeably though, while the ISOMORPHS release had a few ethereal moments, IHEARTCOMIX’s release throws nothing but punches.

I’ve kinda struggled with HEARTSREVOLUTION before… it’s the age old style vs. substance debate and with this band it has sometimes been hard to tell where the weight is. But with both Switchblade EPs — and perhaps even more so with the IHEARTCOMIX release — we’re starting to see HEARTSREVOLUTION emerge not just as stylish trendy kids who drive an ice cream truck and like to release vinyls in pretty colors but also as a band with some substance. They’re moving beyond “just” distorted vocals and randomized sequences. And with tracks like “Digital Suicide” and “Dance til Dawn” (the latter being perhaps their best song to date), the disc displays a certain versatility that might come as surprise to some listeners.

Anyway. Yes, you’ve heard “Switchblade” before, but delete whatever shitty MySpace rip you have in your iTunes collection because this copy is freshly mastered and at a full 320 kbps:

  1. They may be trying to mature as artists… but whats with the all this romanticizing suicide bullshit?

The video for Digital Suicide is pure cheese.

And this cover for Switchblade seems to continue the theme.

Promoting suicide is known as one of the lamest gimmicks a band can use to sound ‘edgy’.

So many of the worst metal bands did it in the 80’s

Now only hardcore losers seem to sing about it with such passion.

    WTF?

BTW – love the blog. One of the best around. Not trying to be a hater, but have been feeling this way about HR since I watched that Digital Suicide video last month.

  2. i say this with the utmost love for bigstereo.

    stop posting heartrevolution.

i liked them okay at first, but franki chan has simply over-saturated the internet with their stuff so much that its has begun to hurt. everything he touches seems to degrade in quality rapidly. you guys are better than this, dont listen to his promo propaganda.

  3. hey el dorado,
    fuck you.
the video isn’t about suicide…and you probably don’t even understand the song..and none of it is trying to “romanticize” anything.
    hearts, lo
    ps. you suck

  4. more into the kate morros artwork they used ont he UK rellease.

  5. i think hearts rev. is gayyyyyy. Stupid ass trendy trash music that will only last for a hot minute. I just don’t like the riffs and vocals. its like candy that is to sweet for your precious mouth.

  6. hey price is right-
i will assume you are using the word “gay” as a derogatory term.
    awesome man.
    ps. you fucking suck too!

  7. hey heartschallenger

    you’re gey.

    ps. sucking rules

  8. price is wrong beyotch!!!

  9. well..
i guess that all depends on what you are sucking on…sucker.

  10. first of all what does it matter what does it matter whether the music is trendy or “promo propaganda”? all that matters to me is that i can get down to it. heartsrevolution is fun (period). price is right is evidently the “trendy trash” and el dorado should go jump a cliff. lo, keep on keepin’ on!

  12. Things definitely matter.

In fact every thing is made out of it.

Looking around, one can easily see lots of the lameness.

Suicide is not necessarily a great solution.

In fact some 15 year old kid just jumped to his death at the encouragement of hecklers in London.

    Supposedly over a break up.

Why not have good times and fucking celebrate being alive?

    Getting down is the point.

Music that makes people want to get down and feel alive. People need to dance.

    I mean come on.

    Heartsrevolution has already impressed.

You have an audience. It is growing.

Some of them are young and will emulate you.

Please don’t lead any of them over a cliff without a way out.

    Literally.

    whatitfeelslikeforagirl = lo(l)?

    What?!!!!
