The Keyishe

P-p-party rap ebbs and flows. The Keyishe’s “Hollywood to Tokyo” sounds more akin to electroclash than new rave — which in this current soundscape somehow manages to be refreshing. These kids keep it stripped down and kinda minimal by channeling some classic freestyle and electro. “H2T” seems to have its money on the fact that maximal is destined to be on the ebb.
The Keyishe - “Hollywood to Tokyo”
Ok, and stop whatever it is you’re doing and head over to their MySpace and listen to “Beat Box Love.” While “Hollywood to Tokyo” is fun and all, “Beat Box Love” is playful and raw — showcasing that The Keyishe are full of potential and something new.

Oh, and on the party rap tip — make sure you head over to RCRDLBL and check out the JFK (of MSTRKRFT) remix of Kid Sister’s “Control.”

I’d like to suggest to people that they stop listening to shit like this. But NSYNC was big once, so I’m pretty sure this is the newest flavor of quickly-made bubblegum pop…only, with less melodies and more 80’s props in the pictures. I’m going back to my cave now.

I think I’m increasingly becoming jaded by the whole indie dance scene lately. It’s just all same-y and recycled. No one is really pushing much next-level shit anymore. It’s, like, add some hypercolors, Urban outfitters and some overplayed retro swagger and you’re an indie artist. Haven’t been checking this blog in a hot second, and used to get a LOT of cool stuff from here in a few years back.
Just saying, NOT hating.

P.S. ACTS LIKE THIS, not all artists in the indie game. But a lot of these RetroTrendSwagger clones.

I’m probably hating. But it’s well-merited if I hate on a band that spends more time thinking about their Myspace page’s layout than they do thinking about their music.

I agree with hot-tub. Get some dope tracks that don’t sound like a joke rap over a casio before you take pictures and make a cool myspace page. It’s music not fashion peeps.

Its funny cuz people love to hate on people who make it look easy and they assume they know about a groups music by hearing one song. I miss the days when music was about having a good time and thats why I love The Keyishe, and when people are hating that means your doing something right. I cant wait till there new stuff is out then it will be known The Keyishe is no joke and thats on the real. Im talking about LA-West Coast HIP HOP what do you know about that. Watch out this is the real deal in a major way.

Indeed, i do miss the day when music is all about having a good time. The problem is i am not having a good time hearing this, but the colors and props are entertaining.

Hey every body, I want to thank all of you for taking the time and listening to Hollywood To Tokyo. Keep in mind that was our first real song that we made as The Keyishe. We did want to keep it simple and basic we were not trying to impress anybody we just want to keep it real and make music that comes from us, this song actually took alot longer than you would think to make since we create artwork and fashion other than music. We appreciate all the love and the hate, it makes it interesting. We have alot more Music, Art, and Fashion Merch that we will be showcasing very sooon and when it comes to music I think of it as art so be prepared to hear alot of different sounding stuff coming from The Keyishe.
Stay tuned and keep an ear out this is no joke. We love you all:)
