The Rhythm Method

Sebastien Grainger (ex-DFA1979) is set to drop his first release under the moniker The Rhythm Method (his “party” alias). But when you hear “party” don’t think electro bangers in the style of his ex-bandmate’s MSTRKRFT… or even along the lines of “Let’s Make Out” by DIOYY in which Grainger leant vocals. The double A-side features some smooth late night party jamms showcasing a sophisticated style.
The Rhythm Method - “When You Go Out”
Cover art above by Will Sweeney (obvs). You can purchase the 7 inch on 50 Bones’ MySpace. Oh and make sure you head over there in listen to “Renegade Silence” — it’s my favorite of the two.

I remember running into this song a year ago, but Grainger didn’t have the fancy new name to market it with back then (guess there’s already too many Sebastians out there). I still think the guitar/synth is to weak to be played up so far into the mix. Something irritating about the way the vocals dive off around and fight with that main synth line. Wish he’d loudened up that bass line and actually brought the funk (party jamm if you will). If I need an electro/soprano I’ll stick to Simon Lord. Plus, Ratatat has been pulling tracks like this outta their butt for years. Why don’t they just reform 1979 with a new killer name. Someone fuck these guys over so that they will have something evil to sing awesomeangry about again.
