san diego
6 June 2008 :: posted by MelissaAs everyone should know Bigstereo has had a long time affair with San Diego. All of us at Bigstereo have lived in San Diego at one point in our lifes leaving behind a little piece of our hearts and a craving for tacos and burritos. Today we have some treats from some of our favorites in San Diego, a combination of the new and old coming together and pushing San Diego forward.

First up with have Saul Q and Gabe Vega as they come together to create Feel the Noise. Aside from that they also have been holding down the best and longest running indie dance night in SD called Transport – a must in SD. They have included some of Bigstereo’s regulars and favorites to bounce to. I use to share a wall with Gabe and this mix reminds me of warm nights in SD getting ready to go out while “my own personal” DJ practiced his mixes and tried out new songs on me.

Secondly SQZMYLMNS come to us in the form of Saul Q and Kid Wonder. They have been hard at work producing original songs and making remixes and edits. They sent us over their remix SD’s The Softlightes “Heart Made of Sound”. The sampling in the beginning and the flutes thru out impose memories of hanging out at the arcade in Plaza Bonita and playing Zelda.

Thirdly we have Kid Wonder’s brother – Havard Bass. You may remember him as that classy Sleazy V, the kid that amazes everyone at the parties, but he has since graduated from that moniker and delivered us this urging mix titled “Go To School”. He throws in one of his edits and an original track as well as a mixture of artists you might not know but should – get schooled.
