Madame Mim

Straight out of Brazil, Madame Mim is a nice inbox surprise — so much fun. Gotta say on a surface level she looks as colorful as Yelle, but her music is more akin to a lot of DIY electro-pop coming out of the States (and elsewhere): very danceable, very pop, very dirty and rough around the edges. Ya know, how we like it.
I haven’t a clue as to what the lyrics of “Helado de Limón” are but the track is as delicious as the dessert:

“Electric Kool-Aid” kinda reminds me of Vive La Fête circa ‘02, but I’m not sure that is entirely accurate. It does offer up a certain amount of welcoming calmness that is missing in most electronic music these days.

You can buy Madame Mim’s debut cd, Eletric Kool-Aid, on iTunes or your favorite digital reseller. It is worth tracking down, fo’ sure.

“quiero ver el sol, comer helado de limon
salir de dia y noche en los dias de calor”
i want to see the sun, eat lemon ice cream

Jesus! This is really really bad! I mean, REALLY! She can’t sing, her voice is horrible and annoying and the instrumental sounds like it was made by a 6 years old brat who just got a casio keyboard from its daddy.
I’ve seen some great stuff from Brazil, but this one is just wrong. It doesn’t belong in Bigstereo…
