Yelle Contest! Results!

I know, I know. You guys have been asking for this… the results are finally in for Yelle’s “Ce Jeu” remix contest!! There were 196 submissions… they narrowed it down to ten. Nice to see some familiar faces… and hey, if you weren’t picked why don’t you leave your mix in the comments? We’d love to hear it still.

Je l’écoute très souvent et il me plait toujours plus, il est en meme temps touchant et puissant, une sorte d’emo-bigbeat, la ligne de synthé de la fin donne envie de faire du air-synthé en faisant des grimaces, la choré est toute faite! je l’adore!

I listen to it very often and I love it more and more. I would qualified it as “emo bigbeat”, it s strong and nice at the same time. The synth line in the end, makes you feel like doing air-keyboard while making faces. I already know how I can dance on it !

Le remix le mieux produit, le mix est superbe. Cette ligne de basse sautillante fonctionne à fond, et la descente classique du refrain aussi.

Pornophonics
Cette ligne de basse me fascine, on dirait un solo de guitare screwé. C’est puissant, ça groove, ça opresse, et avec ce type beat c’est super original en fait. Les cuts de la fin sont vraiment cools, très fins et contrastent super bien avec cette grosse ligne de basse pateuse qui vomit partout sur le tapis du salon!

That bass line is fascinating, it looks like a screwed guitar solo. It’s strong, it grooves, it’s sweltering, and with that type of beat, it’sreally something we’re not used to. The cuts in the end are really cool, very thin. GrandMarnier’s choice, today!

Ce remix me reste en tete systematiquement. J’adore cette ambience mysterieuse, il m’hypnotise.

That remix can’t get out of my head, I just love that mysterious atmosphere, it’s kind of hypnotic.

The first we got and one of the best so far for a long time , retrofuturist mix , the result is so good, it could be the original song!

Bon oui,ok, de la disto et de la compression à gogo, mais cette ligne de basse qui monte sans cesse agace et c’est vraiment bon!
Well yeah, compression and distortion «agogo », yes, but the bass line makes me sick, damn good!

Ambiance très “cerises / champagne / peignoir en satin / pas deprobleme chérie”. Il est confortable, et adoucit la voix, ça fait du bien! Il ne manque qu’un featuring de Snoop!

Sounds very « cherries / champagne / satin dressing gown /noprob honey ». It’s easy, and softens the voice, very pleasant! A Snoop featuring is almost missing!

Tres sérieusement : j’ai eu les larmes aux yeux qd je l’ai écouté la premiere fois. Le travail sur la voix est incroyable, le mix est également superbe, le résultat est une nouvelle chanson. Ca fourmille d’idées, voici un génie! Si il n’est pas premier, c’est parce que ce track est PLUS qu’un remix, c’est vraiment une nouvelle chanson, ce morceau a le SPECIAL PRICE DELUXE LARMES.

    the RE:835 is my favorite – the double layer of vocals is sick and the slowmo music with just the right bounce – incredible reinterpretation – class by itself.

    but the last 2 mins of the pornophonics just blows everything else away with technical grace

    the twelves doesnt even need Yelle’s vocals for that banger – goddam bass and separation kills

    and the 80kidz make me want two 15s strapped to my head as headphones.

    more remix contests…and can someone create a minimix of these please

    this jason kase remix – athough about 6 years outdated – is still way more listenable than any of the crappy remixes chosen by yelle herself.

59. The St. Andrew mix sounded a bit whack to me at first, but I agree with Yelle….it’s growing on me a lot. Obviously, bangerheads won’t like it because it doesn’t fit into the genero-banger sound that gave birth to blog house, and is now killing it with its monotony.
