Late of the Pier

There has been a lot of buzz building about Late of the Pier in recent months since their release of ‘Bathroom Gurgle.’ Perhaps it’s due to the oversaturation of ‘bangers’ in recent months, the lull in live indie electronic music, or perhaps it’s their the production work by Erol Alkan that struck a chord with the critics. Regardless, they are prepping to release their second single ‘The Bears are Coming’ with a whole slew of producers waiting in the wings to remix it.
In the meantime, Tronik Youth took their first single and completely reworked it into a dance floor monster with the required dirty, distorted bassline. He just seems to have a knack for taking mellow songs and turning them into what they were meant to sound like if they were initially intended to be an infectious dance track….a sort of fairy godmother, perhaps? (oh I mean that only in the most flattering of ways)

I was wondering how lond it’d be before these lads saw the light of Bigstereo, or rather Bigstereo saw the light in them…..but before I start sounding too much like a verse from…a chapter in the bible - Genesis, there you go that’s one - I will just say these guys make damn fine music and I’m really annoyed I’ll be on the other side of the world when they’re touring the U.k, alongside Video Nasties, another great band.

I listened to the tronik youth remix twice, just to make sure that I really did like it. I could see myself dancing to that. Hell I might even play that out somewhere. Woohoo.
