Justice, DJs of the year, bullshit! Wake up people Toxic Avenger broke you bitches off! Good, if playing your own tracks makes you good… Who read this blog…are you all retarded? Even David Guetta is better. Grrrr.

  2. Anonymous Says:

    david guetta?
    wow…thats a joke

  3. Travis Says:

Johnny, I don’t agree with all the winners or even nominations, but the most common denominator always wins in polls. There were thousands of votes and Justice was huge this year — so no surprise really.

  4. Martin Cutz Says:

Mr. Douche, when Justice broke out in the states in 06′ they came out djing because it was about their original tracks. The purpose was to establish themselves as artists not dj’s. If you get a chance to actually watch them dj now you will see that their sets still bang harder and better than anyone out there right now. They keep it fresh and they are not crowd pleasers. I’ve seen most major acts dj live and it’s fucking weak.

  5. DJ Steve Aoki Says:

    What about me? :-(

  6. pelham123 Says:

I have to say, last years results were definitely more indie-orientated. The only surprise this year is how popular you guys are getting and maybe, the kind of people that voted. Still my favorite music blog mind.

  7. Keigniz Says:

Wow…Midnight Juggernauts, eh? Thank god people didn’t fall asleep on the album, albeit porbably cuz the toured with Justice….iunno, doesn’t anyone feel like the volume of dance music being made is mostly repetitive and insignificant? it’s my contention that there’ll be backlash for it soon enough….

  8. jgzlvr Says:

    hey juggerz hater…

I would be interested to hear who you think is “significant” right now.. and more importantly why

  9. john top of the world Says:

    yeah what about steve?

  10. will will shank you for a penny Says:

Ya! I voted for Steve so he gets my award.

  11. Johnny Douche Says:

Steve, I do love you as a DJ I have seen you ummm 3 or 4 times in SF. You rock, I really loved you with Blake Miller as Weird Science. Buuuuut, Toxic Avenger really took me to another place. Justice while relevant is good as producers/artists but I still don’t agree with them being great DJs. Oh, their album is great, but I really don’t believe they should be on the dj
list. What about Krames? Toats? Oh!? Acid girls? CLAWS? Douchebag? All amazing but not on the list. DJs on this list should be at least DJs first and artists second but whatever.

  12. Noah Klein Says:

    what about LUDACHRIST!?

  13. moutonrotschild Says:

Justice, best djs ??? Ok…Ever experienced Feadz last year ???

  14. mahmoud Says:

Ludachrist pretty much put everyone else to shame.

  15. pelham123 Says:

If you think most of the indie-dance is repeditive this year, I suggest giving Para-One’s Epiphanie another listen, 2 years on and it’s still the best thing to come out of the New French Touch scene. Institubes is definitely where it’s at right now, I had the joy of attending their Paris Express tour at Fabric London during the year, Teki Latex MC’d, with Para-One, Surkin, Orgasmic, Jean Nipon and Das Glow all spinning whilst The Bang-Gang, Busy P and Walter Meego shook the other rooms. You don’t any more maximal than that.

  16. Johnny Douche Says:

Walter Meego, now there is some tasty musical treats, but Walter Meego AND Surkin @ the same show….. my mind has been blown. The US needs to step up its lineups. While these genres of music are finally gaining acceptance the only time we get lineups that are that good is if its a massive rave. Maybe it’ll be better this year.

  17. Calling In Sick Says:

    Go team AUS!

  18. Dodus Says:

Boyz Noise is an artist to watch in 2008? Weren’t you guys watching them this year? They killed it!

  19. boris shmoris Says:

    Very cool top list!
Yeah, justice is winners! best singles, unique (for past time), hi-fi and lovely sound! and justice is well known around all the world, and your parents singin d.a.n.c.e. when hear it
all polls is very true, but “Artist to Watch Out For in 2008″ could be better, cos we have more innovative artists, from Santogold or African Boy to david e. sugar, Yuksek, Curses and Claws and Friendly Fires!
    Yo!

  20. louis Says:

bullshit!!! … Justice and all the Ed banger are just Super Hyped Bands….but are dj´s, remixes, and of course records companies too much blunt thean them (i mean the parisian crew is not the “biggest” thing in the last few years, like a lot of people believe)

    +1

  22. Sssschlick Says:

    ?????

badass dubstep will rule the airwaves of 2008… but it’ll be a hideous lovechild of 80s electro and dubstep… eww…

Also… people will start sampling late 90s dance classics in hip hop songs… NOSTRADAMUS HAS SPOKEN

  23. ahhhhh Says:

fuck disco and electro in 2008 , lets bring back classic rock ala the eagles & deep purple! YO!

and justice as DJs is a crock. download there bbc session , its complete shite ..

  24. stephen Says:

    ahhhhhh rules

  25. Bec Says:

Boys Noize is a He or a Him, not a They or a Them…

  26. plural Says:

haha yeah there is only ONE of ‘them’

  27. Joe Says:

    Steve Aoki? Good one.

  28. pelham123 Says:

ahhhhh, how do you mean “complete shite”? It’s not a typical Essential Mix granted, there are parts that would fill floors - and you can hear a deeply-impressed Pete Tong commenting to that effect - but, by the time they drop Gilbert O’Sullivan’s ‘Alone Again…’, they’ve lost Tong… and half their listeners I’ll wager. I think it’s one of the best mixes I’ve ever heard, a real musical journey and shows Justice as they really are, genuinely passionate about their influences, however esoteric they might be. I for one discover some serious gems every time I hear of their mixes or see them perform live. It’s geeky sure, but I guess that means it’s not for everyone.

  29. Cassy Says:

The readers of this blog are pretty open minded…. NOT

  30. Donroxxx Says:

Dudes Justice only got dj of the year cause they’re pop!
I know so many dj’s here in sf alone that would house the shit outa those guys. vinsol, forever21, richie panic, white girl lust, etc etc..

  31. celldivision Says:

not really a suprise that Justice topped the polls.

but another artist to watch out for in 2008 would be tronik youth. i can’t wait to hear more.

  32. James Says:

    LOL ludachrist is awesome.

and i voted steve as the artist to watch out for in 2008.

    he got my vote

  33. dograt Says:

Justice can’t dj but don’t think anyone cares. its a party….. boys noize djing incredible 3cdj 2 turntable meaning he toggles between phono/line….. thats talent.

  34. Johnny Douche Says:

Richie Panic…. fucking horrible. I vote for Justice over Richie Fucking Panic! Gag me. Can you officially be banned from posting? Vin Sol, good but not really in this “scene”. I officially have no opinion of white girl lust. But I think the marina is that way. ———–>

  35. Johnny Douche Says:

oops I forgot Forever21, he kicks ass and takes names!

  36. Tone. Says:

Yawn. This has become the equivalent of top of the pops of dance music. Move on kids and find something new.

  37. Anonymous Says:

    DJ = Disk Jockey
    Laptop/Computer = Not a disk

    Boys Noize = DJ
    Justice = not DJ’s.

  38. Travis Says:

oh man and it went there.

nothing about justice or boys noize BUT..

i’d rather be at party with a laptop dj playing good tunes than at a party with disc jockey who can’t mix… in the end, who cares what tools they’re using.

  39. sean Says:

I have to say, I think it’s pretty criminal that Simian Mobile Disco gets no mention at all. I love Justice and what they’ve done, but SMD wipe the floor with them, in terms of content. Even if we just stick to the Ed Banger label, I’d give a nod to Feadz as a DJ and Sebastian as an artist over Justice. Again, I’ve got no beef with Justice and like their album, I just can’t imagine some of these other artists not getting the attention they deserve.

And what’s up with the digg on Richie Panic? He’s an awesome guy, both on and off the decks. You don’t like his DJing, fine, but there’s no reason to go off on the guy.

  40. krista Says:

Justice is pretty tasty, but I do think they should have been at the bottom of that DJ list. MSTRKRFT live is pretty sextastic. oh well.

ps- I totally agree about SMD. Attack Decay Sustain Release was my favorite album of the year. :)

  41. Matt Says:

Justice uses Pioneer CDJ1000 when they DJ. They started doing so after they saw how much 2manyDJs can do with it. The Pioneer is gonna eventually become the new Technic 1200s standard.

  42. Kidtronic Says:

    LUDACHRIST is the new Messiah!

    Watch out *GirlTalk* 2008 signals a shift…

  43. dograt Says:

have you ever seen boys noize deejay using his headphones as a blindfold? I’m not joking. I guess you get that good if you start djing when your 16…… and own your own record label by mid 20’s. FREAK. regards to matt - cdj1000’s are 95% at every club/show. But vinyl will never die.

  44. nickogasm Says:

the boys noize dj set was so good my brain melted, alex ridha is incredible. couple that with one of the most innovative albums of the last decade and you have yourself artist of the year…

the soulwax show at coachella was un-fucking-believable as well. i can’t even begin to explain how much fun i had boiling away in the sun.

Digitalism was a great album too… too bad i missed the show. Oh, and the SMD show. That too…. That is all.

  45. John Grève Says:

“anon” Justice don’t dj with a laptop you tool, not that there’s anything wrong with using a laptop anyway, I’d much rather hear someone do a good set in ableton than someone trainwrecking with vinyl.

I don’t agree with all those results, but they’re mostly ok. Except the “watch in 2008″, which has a bunch of artists big in 2007. Danger should’ve won.

  46. Jhon83 Says:

    Chromeo - “Tenderoni” (MSTRKRFT remix)

  47. dinnerparty Says:

HA. This thread is hilarious. Bring on the new sounds in 2008, we’ve heard enough of Paris.

    Dan Deacon weds @ GAMH!!

  48. Brian Says:

All I gotta say is that The Bloody Beetroots did not nearly get as many votes as I hoped they would. Well hopefully in 2008 they bring on the wrath that I know is just waiting to burst open.

  49. Dennis Wu Says:

Basically most of the French artists CANNOT DJ.

My all time favourite producer is SebastiAn anyway.

  50. k Says:

justice are the softest djs on the ed banger roster, i have seen them all play this year in aus and justice where definatly the worst.

feadz and dj mehdi were 100 times better. bang gang definatly should be top spot, i guess they havent played enough in amercia to get enough votes

  51. leslie Says:

justice is only getting shit on because they’re popular. that IS the definition of musical snobbery. i saw them spin a barely hour and a half set early this year, and they blew my brains out of my ass.

and am i the only one that thinks mstrkrft needs to come up with a new schtick? jfk is a sexy bitch, but they’ve turned into cut and paste electro if you ask me.

  52. savile Says:

    wow.

bloody beetroots were fucking PROLIFIC this year.

pick any remix and fill the floor.

  53. evil shoe Says:

    Where’s Erol Alkan?
at soulwaxmass, Erol Alkan played before Justice and he was WAY better, much more “in your face”, less popular songs. Justice was actually kinda boring in the end…

  54. claksaarb Says:

Boys Noize. One of the most talented DJ’s I’ve ever seen. He blew my mind.

  55. Gabe Says:

UFO! is king! His shit is beyond. His skills are second to none. Has been and will be. Find me someone as talented as a visual artist, dj, and producer, And I’ll… won’t happen.
