Friendly Fires - “Paris” (YouTube)
Most of you in the know aren’t strangers to Friendly Fires. So refreshing: any dance act that doesn’t rely on rave horns and breakbeats or get totally lost in nostalgia and baggy neon clothes gets an A plus in my book. While their music channels the past, Friendly Fires keep it relevant and real — something you can sink your teeth in and won’t be embarrassed about six months from now. This is relationship music; not one night stands.
You can buy their new “Paris” single directly from Moshi Moshi — digital or real. Their “must have” Remix EP was released waayyy back in October — you can pick it up at Juno or whatever digital store you prefer.
We all have our dry spells — months and months when we’re bored with everything that hits our ears. The Nightmoves remix of “On Board” made me love music again. It feels more like an extended mix than anything else, never adding unnecessary or taking away necessary elements. The remixer’s ego never gets in the way of what is already an excellent dance track.
