Mendetz

With the exception of the amazing venue Razzmatazz, I haven’t heard much in the way of electronic music come out of Barcelona recently (feel free to correct me if someone comes to mind). Well, allow me to introduce you to Mendetz. They narrowly escaped the hardcore scene and emerged to begin creating self-described ‘casiopunk’ (as in the synthesizer, not the amazing gold digital wristwatch).

This remix was done by The Requesters. I love it…not too hard, not too cheesy, not too generic and not too repetitive. It’s like Goldilocks and the Three Bears….’this bed’s too hard, this bed’s too soft, this one’s juuuuuuust right….’

Mendetz – The Boola (Requesters Hard to Find rmx)

This next track made the cut probably because of my soft spot for Moving Units. Similar to my favorite aforementioned electrock group, Mendetz manages to blend indie rock with electro like a Jamba Juice smoothie. I was caught offguard a few times by the lyrics as words like ‘sex’ ‘vagina’ and ‘orgasmatron’ stuck out like a Tourette’s outburst, but I think I’ll survive….16 oz Strawberry SynthSex Smoothie, anyone?
