Ghostwood
20 August 2007 :: posted by Travis
A while back we did a quick post on a new band called The Ghosts — a year later they’ve changed their name to Ghostwood (probably in part due to this band) and are set to release their first EP on Modular. If anything, Ghostwood is a change of pace from the past few Modular releases… which is refreshing. Totally atmospheric — they remind me a bit of My Bloody Valentine or some shoegazer shit. And in a totally non-sequitur type way they remind me of the Klaxons. I know the sound isn’t the same, but there is some sorta similar spirit shared between the two bands. Or maybe it’s just youth.
“Ghost” is a demo from their Ghosts days — I’m not sure how close it is to the final EP version or if it is the same at all. But it is pretty damn perfect as it is…
Ghostwood - “Ghost” (demo) (mp3)
I haven’t heard the full EP yet, but if it’s as good as the demos that have been floating around the Internets the past year then we’re in for a treat. Ghostwood is out on August 25th. Mark your calendar.

Dude you need to stick an ‘h’ at the start of the link… but this is a sick song, and their EP’s out this Saturday in Sydney and i cannot wait… used to go to school with the lead singer, these boys are going places

Travis you music tastes must come from watching LeGunna Beach or reruns of the O.C. This sounds like radiohead circa 2002 crossed with countless numbers of teenage emo angst bands. Nothing new and still boring.
Songs like this are to music as greeting cards are to literature.
Or am I being a little to subjective?
I think you need to take a small time out from blogging/posting and spend a little more time listening to music.
Or I’m sorry maybe you are 12 years old

Lovely Modular

Is modular taking this on their label? Probably to cover all kind of different target groups, but to me it sounds like a very average ‘the …s’ band. (Like they were named before?) I mean, it sounds so justified.

modular has to sign commercial shit like this every now and then (see wolfmother) to bring in some cash to pay for all the other failed art-wank shit they sign.

theyre not a commercial band, go to their myspace and listen to their other shit, its more like tv on the radio with a MUCH poppier twist.

i just fail to see why this band is worth spending on. there are so many more bands doing exactly what Ghostwood are doing, but these other bands are doing it far better.
I reckon you should post some Dance With Voices on here. its about time they got some attention.
