Numbers

I guess today is just gonna be a Kill Rock Stars day… Warning, fanboy sized hyperboles ahead.
I’ve been a fan of Numbers since their very early days and have eagerly awaited each album release… from their glitchier tech days on Tigerbeat6 to their more recent “organic” releases on Kill Rock Stars, Numbers has built one of the strongest catalogues of any band this decade. Few bands can wear so many hats and be consistently good. Other bands crash and burn where Numbers succeed.
“Mind Hole”, off their new album Now You Are This, is a bit of an unexpected twist. It starts off with a piano solo that I couldn’t help but think was rather tame or maybe even pedestrian, but it layers on guitar and vocals and builds into an unexpected clashing sea of music that is so signature Numbers. This may be their easiest track to digest so far, but that doesn’t stop us from loving it. It reminds me of an introduction into a brand new world.

The video itself is beautiful — one that doesn’t rely on trends or glitz to get the job done:

If this is any hint of the album to follow then I might explode with excitement. Now You Are This is out August 21st. Pre-order now at Kill Rock Stars.
