Trina Kills + Mr. Oizo

The last thing we posted about Trina Kills was the remix used on the Ed Rec Vol. 2 video. Well, Trina Kills is back again with a remix of Mr. Oizo’s C.H.I.V.E.R.S from the new movie, Steak. Now there’s not much information in English to be found about the film (or Trina Kills for that matter), even on their myspace, but from what I can gather it’s an experimental feature film by Mr Oizo and co-produced by French celebrities Eric & Ramzy. The soundtrack was compozed by Oizo, Sebastien Tellier and SebastiAn (how could that possibly go wrong) pulling influence from classic French soundtracks (Francois de Roubaix, Hubert Rostaing, Vladimir Cosma, and Raymond Lefevre for “La Soupe Aux Choux”), French ‘bangers’, and some totally assumed pop indulgences. Oh ya, it’s released on Ed Banger Records, of course.

Trina Kills takes out the melodic vocals and makes the track choppy as f@$k. I’ve hearing buzz about a new genre described as bloghouse and while I hate perpetuating silly labels, if the shoe fits….it’s a cut up, choppy track with a bangin’ bassline that is sure to either give you a migraine or make you dance your ass off if you’re not careful.

Let’s hope that we get some Steak action in the US…..

  1. Love the track. Haha, Mr. Oizo — haven’t heard any Oizo in years.

    Good linx.

  2. “Steak” is a film taking place in an imaginary future where the new fad sweeping the world is this special type of “face lifts”. The main character is too poor to afford the surgery so he undergoes a “d.i.y.” version of the surgery with the assistance of a friend. The surgery apparantly does not go as planned and he is left with a hideous appearance even worst than prior to the surgery. That is all I know so far. Also, with the “BLOGHOUSE” thing I disagree it sounds just like a standard freak out style remix, this track in particular isn’t my taste at all but I think making a sub-genre based off of blogs is one of the stupidest things I have ever hear. If you wanted to put this track into a sub-genre it would be annoying repetetive crummy remix of a track that doesn’t stand out as anything more than a background track in a french indie film in the first place. WOW thatis a run on sentence if I’ve ever seen one.

  3. Ok, haha after listening to the original track a few times, I want to take back the “track that doesn’t stand out as anything more than a background track in a french indie film” statement. This song has grown on me quite a bit. It definately fits in as a film soundtrack, and it isn’t a club banger at all but it is a decent track. I mean come on, Mr. Oizo is a genious haha thats all you need to say haha.

  4. lol, wutz?

  5. Mr Oizo (aka Quentin Dupieux) IS a genious !! :) and so are Sebastien Tellier and SebastiAn that are also doing the soudtrack.
This is one of the best recent movie I saw (with Daft Punk’s Electroma). I hope we’ll have some more. I already saw it 3 times at theatres. I can’t wait for the DVD.
