It’s no secret that Dragonette and Calvin Harris are two artists we’ve been loving around here. So when a cover by Dragonette of Calvin Harris’ “The Girls” lands in our inbox, it’s a cause for a little bit of excitement… or at the very least a little dancing around. Oh man. I can’t decide which version I like better… but I do know that now everybody except the asexual folks have a song to sing along with.

JP: Another bad experience?

CH: Yes! Dragonette weren’t very nice to me. I did a remix of their single and then they said, ‘by the way, it’s shit’, and then asked me to change everything about it. I told them I couldn’t because I was on a bus and that they could basically FUCK OFF. That’s where we left it.

JP: But was the remix shit?

CH: Well, yeah, it was shit. What annoyed me was that I thought I could get away with it. I did spend two days on it, but those two days were mostly spent thinking how shit it was. Usually you can get away with that sort of stuff.
