And continuing on the Kitsune interview tip, here’s my conversation with Johnny Love from Guns ‘n Bombs who came over and sat on my lap to answer a few questions…

so tell me what stuff you’re working on right now….i know a full length release is in the works

are you collaborating with anyone on your full-length?

yelle, dj funk, peaches, junior senior

nice…i love dj funk. how did kitsune find you in the first place?

i messaged everyone on my myspace about guns n bombs when we made our first track. It was a mass message and they added the account. I messaged them and asked if they liked the song. Gildas [replied and]said “yes, please send a high quality mp3 for release consideraiton”

who else showed interest at the time?

no one, I didn’t get another single response….haha

i remember you telling me the story, but reiterate how you and Filip [the other half of Guns 'n Bombs] met

i booked him to play my 23rd birthday party

was he in la at the time?
yea

and you just got to talking and decided to make music together?

when i said i was moving to LA he told me i could stay with him and work on music

so how do your styles differ? you seem to prefer bangers….

He likes minimal techno and hates speed garage.

so you have to meet somewhere in the middle?

When we make music filip doesnt try to make it minimal [or too different] b/c he knows that we cant deviate that greatly from our “style” that we’re known for.

right, but you’re trying to be a bit broader for the album….like you said you have to throw in a slower song, right? A song to make babies to?

Yeah, a slow jam. you cant have an all banger album.

can you give me a brief rundown of how you guys collaborate….like who brings what

some tracks ill start in ableton and some tracks he’ll have started in cubase. then we meet in the studio and tell each other why each other’s version sucks and we fix them up.

how long does it usually take you to get a finished product
2 weeks

and whats your timeline for the upcoming album?
Hopefully to have it done before the summer is over

how many tracks?
10 or 12

and who have you been getting musically inspired by lately…like who have you been listening to
old r&s belgian shit, first wave french touch, speed garage

ok last few questions…. how do you plan to deal with illegal downloading and fucked up cd sales….itunes? vinyl?
i dont care… hahaha

last one…..what’s a girl’s best bet to get you out of those reeboks?
