The Go! Team – “Grip Like A Vice” (YouTube)
Last we heard from Ninja she was teaming up with Simian Mobile Disco. “Grip Like A Vice” has been traveling around the interwebs for a few weeks now… finally took the minutes to sit down and listen/watch it. Oh man, if there is one album I am looking forward to it’s the new Go! Team. What is more exciting than that? Potential fall tour for the best live band ever.

I’m sooo looking forward to see them live. We have them in Benicassim next month, but at the same time as Simian Mobile Disco! The schedules guy has no heart :(

Am I missing something here, or are you really saying the Go! Team are the best live band ever??
When i saw them a couple of years ago it was just about the worst show I’ve ever seen. I was really disappointed, I mean because I love the Go! Team. Everything was all over the place, completely out of time, and there was one cringe-making track where they got the drummer to solo sing this children’s song. Ninja had really great energy, but it just wasn’t enough to make up for it. I’ve seen them since on Jools Holland and again the singing/instruments were out of time. Maybe they’ve got better since then, but I can’t imagine they’d've suddenly become the best act ever.

so strange… i’m not much of a fan of their recorded stuff, but i LOVE them live.
i think the first time i saw them might’ve been on my top five list of best shows ever and i was by myself, in a shitty mood, etc.
i think they’re one of those bands that is better with an awesome audience… the second time i saw them the energy was a little lower, my expectations were a little higher and it wasn’t as good… but still much fun.
maybe they were having some off days? or just some on days? or something?

Hmmm yeah, or depending on when you saw them maybe they’ve got a bit tighter over time? A strength of the live show was the energy, and the live, more prominent vocals so maybe with the technical stuff sorted it would be really good. But I suppose so much stuff with enjoyment is subjective, where it is, how you’re feeling, the crowd etc. Still, I reckon acts like Les Savy Fav, Daft Punk are in a league apart. But fuck it, writing without the odd superlative is boring, I’m just bitching for the sake of it.
