Muscles

I was lucky enough to arrange some one-on-one time with Muscles when he pulled through San Francisco this past friday with the Soulwax NiteVersions/2Many Dj’s tour. I had known relatively little about him prior due to scarce information on his websites and other music blogs. Well, I walked into the venue to find this 22 year old, brown-haired, windbreaker-clad Aussie behind two keyboards singing his lungs out to the point of vocal hoarseness. Despite being the opening act, he delivered a solid dose of energy and excitement. He made dance and not give a f*ck if no one else was.
the rest of the interview and a digital goodie bag of my incredible weekend of Coachella run-off
I was wondering why he was performing with out his signature lights wrapped around his body. He informed me that they were stolen in Sydney and he hadn’t replaced them. To whomever stole them, i hope you feel like shit b/c you didn’t stop him from having a great show and he looks WAY better in them than you do. As far as his North American tour goes, its been a pretty smooth ride. Everyone has had a great reaction to him, Montreal taking the cake, thus far.
Muscles career is about to blow up. He’s about to jump into bed with Modular. I’m surprised that they’ve managed to restrain themselves thus far…it’s like going on a date with Jessica Alba and her not letting you touch her coochie for two whole months. Muscles told me that the last few months have been a blur and if you had asked him six months ago if he thought he would be signing with Modular and touring with Soulwax, he would have said ‘ya right.’
He has an 11-track album all set to go. Apparently it’s going to sound more positive than his previous singles (i.e. no stabbing references), but perhaps that’s due to the large amounts of Italo Disco he’s been listening to. We gushed about our mutual obsession with LCD Soundsystem and Midnight Juggernauts, so I can only imagine how much I’m going to love his album.
Bottom line: Muscles is super nice, crazy one man show, Modular’s new love affair…and I think mine, too.
p.s. and a little birdie told me that Soulwax is helping produce Tiga’s new album
Sorry, I only had my little point and shoot camera….

Klaxons - Gravitys Rainbow (Soulwax remix)
LCD SOUNDSYSTEM
They rounded out my incredible weekend with an impeccable show….flawless.

I saw muscles play at the Check Yo Ponytail 1 year anniversary party last Tuesday. Very impressive to see just a dude and some synths and a drum track, singin’ his heart out.
I now own a 1″ badge pin that says: “Peace Love Extacy” hah.

i saw lcd here 2 months ago for the second time and they are fantastic. the second tour is so balanced. they got 1500 people completely on their asses of dancing to hard.
digitalism is very good live as well
and i am very happy that soulwax made this remix of the klaxons, better than any other remix for that song. soulwax are the profs.

I really liked the songs I had heard on your blog and others, but was really disappointed when I saw him live.
I hope he was better than he was in Seattle… he acted wasted, unprofessional, and his performance sucked balls, with quite a few members of the audience booing.

Never thought modular would sign a novelty, non-fashionista kid from Shepparton… I bet they had to bite their bottom lip when they drew up the heads of agreement.
