Muscles

Omg. This is almost as exciting as the Daft Punk/Rapture tour. Muscles is touring with Soulwax on their upcoming North American tour. I know! Exciting. Too bad I have a prior engagement that I’ll never be able to wiggle out of on the only date near me — so you’ll have to tell me all ’bout it.

Muscles has blown up since the last time we checked up on him. He’s gotten some love from just about every single blog by now including some of the bigger bro blogs (GvB, MFR). And there’s a rumor floating around that Modular is courting him. Plus Soulwax. Place your money on Muscles… for sure.

This track is an oldie by blog standards. But so damn good…

No doubt this guys are brilliant. I've had this tune and ice cream on loop since it was first posted. Nothing like freddie mercury electropop harmonies to make me feel like i'm skipping through a field of robot daisies.

the rapture isn't near half as exciting as the fact that sebastiAn and kavinsky as also on the tour.

no sat/sun date in los angeles? that omission is criminal. paging steve aoki and/or i heart comix.

someone buy them a plane ticket, to la and back and they can move his flight by a day or tow.

i'm a bit worry about the show. how crazy can he get standing behind a keyboard by himself? no doubt i love the songs, but i don't think he can capture that big of an audience in the states yet, i wonder how the v-fest went for him, he's gonna need some new christmas lights for this.

don't know — haven't seen him live of course. but i don't think "standing behind a keyboard by himself" is anything to worry about. hopefully he can still command a crowd… or hopefully he can learn. i mean — look at matt & kim. how crazy can they be? but they work it.

his song writing is brilliant. so if there are any hicups in his live performance i hope he can work it out.

he only has a 5 song repertoire. he plays for less than 30 mins. short and sweet. last time i saw him live, he said that he had one last song to play, but then realised he had played them all already. slowed the flow a little. but i enjoyed his show none-the-less. if you like his songs, you'll like his live show. i did see him in an extremely small venue though. less than 200 capacity. it'd be quite different in a larger arena. have to just wait and see if it'll work.

Muscles enthusiasm is enough to woo crowds – big stage or small stage – of all sizes. He genuinely loves what he does and it comes out in his live shows. His set at V Fest in Sydney had everyone within ears reach smiling and tapping their feet – even though he wasn't on the bill and was mostly unknown – and by the end of his set everyone was singing "Muscles, I love you and I want to have your baby!"

MUSCLES FOR TEH WIN!!! I'm doing my best to see that he makes a detour to Atlanta during this tour.

  • jeff

i am really really keen to make it to at least one of these shows… standing behind a keyboard is no different to standing behind a guitar or drum kit really.

for the win! muscles needs to tour more of america. for sure… that soulwax tour is way too short.

    He is terrible…

According to Muscles myspace there is a "TBA LOS ANGELES" on 1st May, can someone find out what gig this is?

saw Muscles at Transit in Philly and he blew my mind. I was the only person there who knew who he was, but everyone there was feeling him. I was surprised by how good he sounded, I have no doubt that he will catch on in the States in a big way. Bonde de Role was also amazing, although their set was way too short. Soulwax was okay, expected better. I actually went to see 2ManyDJs (aka Soulwax when they're DJing), but my friend got sick and had to leave, dragging me with him. That was my only regret of the night, great show, Muscles and Bonde de Role owned the whole thing.
