History Invades

History Invades are the fucking shit. Main singer/songwriter Paul Harper, since back in the day, has been hyped on DC bands like Q And Not U, Black Eyes, and Fugazi, but he always took those influences to the next level. On their debut album The Structure of a Precise Fashion (Lujo Records), History Invades were writing super edgy, post-punk riffs served up soaked in pedal effects and wonky noise. They’ve always been obsessed with computers and technology (even going as far as writing lyrics like “…1001011!”), but I’ve never heard such digital immersion as the sounds that are on their upcoming album In Vision Vanish Invisible (available May 15th on Pish Posh of North America / Lujo Records). The music is definitely a solid breed of organic, dance-rock, like a rougher version of The Rapture or !!!, but this time around the electronic elements are on full force and in the forefront. To top it all off the album sounds completely digitized! It’s like it’s been compressed and emailed back and forth, posted online, downloaded, and then compressed and emailed again! The entire sound quality has been ran through the digital mud of modern technology. You can almost hear the binary code seeping through the music on each track! To some it may be a turn off. To me it’s fucking brilliant. This jam-out we’ve got here is called “Intensity in Ten Cities”, and it comes complete with a lil home made, house party music video. Get into it.
