Revl9n

Normally when I think of Revlon, images of slutty pink nailpolish, call-girl red lipstick, whorish shades of blush and Cindy Crawford”™s mole come to mind. But subtract the “˜o”™ and add a “˜9″™ and you have the Swedish duo, Revl9n. The band”™s original four members started making magic back in 1998 out of Stockholm. Things took off around 2004 when their single, “Walking Machine” got as much European airplay as JT”™s “Sexyback” did last year. The scent of such fresh meat attracted the likes of MSTRKRFT, Simian Mobile Disco, Sebastian and FreeformFive to do remix it every which way but up.
The group has whittled itself down to the one-boy/one-girl combination of Maria Eilersen & Nandor Hegedüs who are ready to seduce your ears with their self-titled, second full-length album. It has already been launched in the UK b/c those lucky Brits get first dibs on everything (Soulwax, anyone?). The band seems to be in love with their Korg as the synth beats drive this album from beginning to end. Maria”™s breathy vocals are riddled with tension”¦sexual tension, to be specific. On one hand, she seems down with sex with an ex and no strings attached in “Miss It.” Then, on the next track decides that she wants and desprately needs the object of her desire in “Someone Like You.” Regardless, it sounds like Maria”™s got that “˜sweaty wet”™ on every single track. Now I can”™t walk down the Revlon isle at Wal-Greens without thinking about horny girls rolling on the floor and one night stands.
