Pdl: Matt & Lil’ Kim

I’m a bit of a mash up freak… though I try not to post them too often: Partly because they are a dime a dozen these days. Mostly though because it is easy to make a good mash up, but it is almost impossible to make a perfect one. You already know the recipe for the perfect mash up. It takes two songs — two songs so different that they should never meet — and creates something more wonderful than the original tracks could ever reach alone. The sum of the parts are greater as a whole.

Pdl (who you may already know from The Mirror Boyz) has and upcoming internet album called Double Ice Creams Tonight. Mash up, smash ups, whatever you want to call it – Pdl prefers “playdates.” And the first track to hit the internets sounds just that, a playdate. “Verbs Before Nouns, Mothafucka”’ is the unlikely pairing of Matt & Kim and Lil’ Kim & Shanice. Really though, there is so much love already for both of these tracks on their own that I can’t believe I’m loving them together more.
