Metronomy - “Trick Or Treatz” (YouTube)

The dancing badgers in Metronomy’s “Trick Or Treatz” video are pretty damn cool — but why the click lights? The video itself seems a bit of a derivative of the Goldfrappish anamorphic human-animal hybrid thing, but stands pretty well on its own. It always helps to have a pretty damn good track backing the visual.

    goldfrapp???
I don’t understand how you can raise these questions with this video and then just accept the video of kelis as sweet bread!

oh but you’re comparing apples and oranges. the kelis video is enjoyable on the most simple level. and that is about it.

this metronomy video is derived from half a dozen videos during the past 12-24 months. i’ve seen every single image, shot, idea already. there is not a single original idea… and for something that is trying so hard to be “original”, well that’s sad. it’s a good video, but… it’s trying too hard to be something greater than it is.

i read somewhere (?) that the director is 15 years old. don’t know if that’s true, but if so then great. he did an awesome job. i can’t wait to see his career in ten years.

now the song. that is brilliant. let’s not debate it.

    haha ok

…maybe it’s because english is not my mothertongue, but i didn’t get that you liked the kelis video because it’s a… uhm… simple one. i thought you actually loved it.

i don’t really understand why indie bands want to make videos so badly anyways… i don’t need it so much, to see their make-up faces be cool, doesn’t excite me. let’s just keep it to good music.

    indeed the song is marvellous
