Chromatics - “In The City” (YouTube)
Demo tracks have been floating around for a while now — but Chromatics’ Shining Violence might be the favorite of 2007. Okay, we’re not even into 2007, and I’m calling best albums which really isn’t fair… but I can’t imagine any album being better. I know I sound like typical blog blah, but it’s truth. I swear.
Shining Violence basically continues on the same path started on the “Nite” 12″ we all loved like six months or so ago. Here is further proof that working with Glass Candy is by far the best decision Chromatics could have made… the band lend every missing piece to the other. “In The City” conjures up so many different aural references to the past that you feel like you already know and love this track. It’s one of those rare songs that is a classic before it is even ever played a first time.

Prediction for 2008: A thousand Shining Violence rip off bands.

Really?

This track is definitely really good and I love the sudden surge in bands that are genuinely inspired by good disco/lo-fi music . Though I think most credit should go to Johnny Jewel for both Glass Candy and Chromatics. The man is genius! heh.

chromatics and glass candy are great, probably the only two bands that will have a lasting impression from this abysmally shallow show of neu-rave and rehashed justice/daft punk-house music

this is a good track — also, so ripe for a slightly uptempo-ed dance remix.
