Curtis Vodka

Curtis Vodka - “Diamonds and Cream” (YouTube)
The video is a remix of classic Bond. Curtis Vodka’s “Diamonds and Cream” off of Yeti Bounce is of course a trashed up version of Shirley Bassey’s bond theme “Diamonds Are Forever.”
And. I was official tired of S.O.V. until I heard Vodka’s “Love Me Or Hate Me” mix. Nice.

Black Ghosts + Teenagers

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

It is still too early to declare a winner, but The Teenagers are leading the way as the band to watch out for in ‘07 as picked by you guys in our little survey. So much hype over this band right now and with good reason.
I posted the original version of The Black Ghosts’ “Face” [...]

Kitsuné Maison Three

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

Oh boy. Kitsuné Maison Compilation 3 is coming November 27th, and the tracklisting is killer as expected. Kitsuné never fails to impress: great track selection, excellent cover art, always the sound of now. Really, they don’t have their finger on the pulse because they are the pulse. If it is the hottest song from the [...]

SoftLightes

SoftLightes - “Heart Made Of Sound” (YouTube)
“Heart Made Of Sound” is not as perfect as “Girlkillsbear” so I’m a bit puzzled by the video choice. But eh, the SoftLightes create such addictive pop it doesn’t really matter.
Ha, stop action is so cool…

Steed Lord

Friday, November 10th, 2006

Oh Steed Lord, where have you been hiding my entire life? The band looks like they could be Vanilla Ice’s back up dancers… the music, which hints at early 90’s house and embraces crunk, doesn’t seem that far detached from the era either. The most amazing and refreshing part is it seems genuine without a [...]

Max Steele and The Party Ice

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

OK. This track is total demo quality, but there is something quite inspired about Max Steele and The Party Ice’s “Pick-axe and Shovel.” Max Steele sounds something like a cross between The Somnambulants and The Postal Service… sigh, I never tire of diy pop music like this. Their other track are a little too saturated [...]

Spektrum

Some of you were climbing the walls for Spektrum’s “Don’t Be Shy” — well if you haven’t laid your hands on the mp3 yet, it is the free download of the week on iTunes for U.S. customers.
The fun doesn’t stop there. Their new album, Fun At the Gymkhana Club, was released digitally today.

The Ghosts

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Hot damn. Daniel Boud suspects The Ghosts are going to be big, and I am willing to bet he’s on the mark. It’s not often that after hearing only one song (a demo at that!) that I am totally head over heals for a band. But there is something totally special about The Ghosts.
I don’t [...]
