Thieves Like Us

Maybe this is the point — maybe — but if New Order’s “Thieves Like Us” was to transform from song shape to band shape then a-ha: Thieves Like Us would be it. I only assume the band must be named after the New Order song, and if so we all know that is dangerous, dangerous territory. No worries though because Thieves Like Us pull it off magically.
Thieves Like Us is a Swedish band living in NYC, but their sound doesn’t sound exactly like either country. Perhaps they actually create the perfect blend of both. Their music never reaches the heights of Swedish pop and never the lows of the sounds of New York. Thieves Like Us is a bit of fresh air in the sometimes crowded ’sounds like’ New Order bandscape. Good stuff.
