The Gossip + Soulwax

If you’ve read bigstereo for any amount of time you know I have a total weak spot for The Gossip. Maybe a favorite? So how do you make The Gossip better? Add a little Soulwax. Guitars melt into synth… Soulwax’s remix of “Standing In The Way Of Control” is as good as it gets. It’s rare when a remix surpasses the original, but I have no doubt that this is how it should have sound all along. No gripes about Guy Piccioto’s work, but this remix makes me wish Soulwax had produced the album. Imagine…

Oh hell, I hope KRS plans on releasing this here… currently you’ll find this only on Back Yard records in the UK. There’s a Headman and Playgroup mix on the 12″ too — as well as another 12″ with yet another release of Le Tigre’s remix. I know the exchange rate is still a bit crappy but it’s worth every penny.

And as long as The Gossip is on this remix kick, I hope “Yr Mangled Heart” gets some treatment. Somebody could work some serious damage to that track.

  7. A DFA remix wouldn’t hurt either. I got to talk to 2ManyDJs at a Diesel Party that they were DJing with James Brown (no joke). They were really nice and genuinely friendly people. They were trying to get James Murphy to play Another Excuse with them at the NYC Soulwax show but he was busy doing something in Seattle.
