Soulwax

Mothafuckin’ Soulwax!!! You all know who they are, you all love their traxx. Well I saw them this last Friday at the Mezzanine, here in San Francisco. The night started young, I DJ’d an early set at Shadowplay, then I rushed over on a drunken’ limo ride to the Mezzanine(the ride itself was a whole different story btw). As I walked in through the door my ears caught the beats of “Teachers”, and I immediatly went crazy and rushed to the front of the stage. I don’t know if it was the alcohol talking but I immediatly felt the vibe of the night and knew it would not be the same. I started to dance and sing and felt like the whole crowd was on the same page as me.
I don’t think I am exaggerating when I say seeing Soulwax was godsent. I definately have to rank it in my top ten show list of all time. I don’t think I have felt the synths in my brain and heart that much since seeing Add N to (X) about six years ago. They delivered and sent their message through…Soulwax is on top of their game and they’re not giving up any time soon. The highlight of the night is definately the fact that they teased us all with about a thirty second rendition of Nelly Furtado’s “Maneater”. I want that released somewhere.
If they are passing by, you just have have have to go see them. It is not something to be missed, be part of the revolution. Has anyone else seen them on this tour? Thoughts? Praises? Heart Attacks?
They officially released ‘Nite Versions’, officially late, but never too late today, on Modular Records go buy it!!! Go see them with the Klaxons as well.
Remaining tour dates:
Wednesday Sep 20 TBD, Philadelphia
Thursday Sep 21 Studio B, Brooklyn NYC
Friday Sep 22 Rumsey Playfield, NYC
Saturday Sep 23 Pimlico Race Course (V Festival), Baltimore

Soulwax is a fantastic, fantastic band! I’m glad you had the chance to check ‘em out. Been diggin’ your mp3 blog for quite a while and love the fact you’re a soulwax-fan like me.
Unfortunately, I’m not anywhere near where the band is touring—why can’t they come to Austin!?! Oh well…
I love Nite Versions, let’s keep spreading the praise. :)

I flew to the UK to catch them earlier this year. Saw them in Nottingham. They played with WhoMadeWho and Erol Fuckin Alkan. One of the best Dance parties I ever been to; Second only to Daft Punk at Coachella.

I got a chance to hear and see them at The Vangard (formely Qtopia) in Hollywood. I cant say I saw them live but I did see their dj set which was fucking amazing. Anyone else hear that Yelle mix? It was my first real time I got hear Justice played on a really loud soundsystem, just incredible! The 2 only spoke a sentence the entire time they mixed. If you miss these guys when they hit your town your noozen!

I went to the show last night here in Brooklyn…
It was the klaxons and soulwax
the klaxons were good but their sound was terrible completly distorted like playing
from a small amp which is a shame because their remixes are so clubby
and good played loud the place was packed but
absolutely nobody was dancing, people did the rock show thing of staring with a
beer in the hand, I was really surprised !
Then came Soulwax and the sound became loud, clear powerfull really amazing !
people were dancing specially in the front where we were pushing each other but nothing like a show in Europe (I’m from France) we had a great time though …

Soulwax fucking ate it last nite. The most energetic show I’ve seen in years. Totally worth going up front to dance even tho I will need a hearing aid by 5pm today. What’d'ya-say?

yeah, i was at the vanguard show as well for the soulax/nite sessions/2 many djs gig and i have to say…THEY FOOKIN’ ROCKED!!! it was one of the best shows i’ve seen in a long time. the live show rocked (better than the cd obviously) and they came back for 3 encores on their dj set. how rad is that? i have to give big ups to giant for bringing in some good talent recently. although i missed it, i believe one-half of dfa and kaskade also played this past saturday at vanguard. now all they need is to bring stanton warriors, evil nine and stone lions for a back-to-back marathon breakbeat session and i can retire peacefully.

These people are gods sent from Belgium. Period. End of discussion. Saw them last week in Montreal. The live show made people bounce up to the ceiling, and the DJ set… oh my god, the DJ set!!! It takes guts to slam in Technotronic’s Pump up the Jam after Tiga’s Pleasure from the bass, and mix a tune every 2 and a half minutes (comment from a friend: “Man, they’re like f**king machines!!!). Every track’s amazing, and it always fits!!! After many years of seeing so many snob DJs struggling to get a crowd up for it and not givin a…, I have to say, these guys are the ultimate party people!!! Amen!
