Teddybears
12 September 2006 :: posted by TravisSo much Teddybears STHLM. Everywhere. Talk about a marketing blitz.
The news is that Soft Machine is mostly repackaged tracks taken from the Teddybears’ Swedish albums from the past few years. Which is fine since the band is almost totally unknown here. What is sweet though is that the band has been busy.
For example: The original version of Teddybears STHLM’s “Yours To Keep” featured Paola and was originally released in 2000. Yes, 2000! I guess at some point the track was re-recorded with Neneh Cherry, and that version is what is included on the Teddybears’ American debut, Soft Machine. But not to stop there… the Teddybears also re-did the track with hipster pop icon, Annie. So confusing!
I’m not an Annie fan, but this is almost 100 times better than the Neneh Cherry version… though doesn’t quite touch the the original Paola version:

And the Nenah Cherry album-version is the free download of the week on iTunes US:

How snazzy is iTunes 7? That album view is freaking me out. Oh, I love living in the future.

This is great. Remove the one hit wonder label from Neenah Cherry. She’s hijacked her second hit.
