Peaches - “Boys Wanna Be Her” (YouTube)

I was not — I was not to post any more Peaches. Why? We’ve all made up our minds: love, hate, whatever.

But:

a) How hot are the Herms in the “Boys Wanna Be Her” video? Like, woah JD… or maybe I just have a weak spot for keytars and glam.

b) Tommie Sunshine is either a total hit or a total miss. Sometimes his remixes are just… watered down crap. Like, remember his remix of Da Brat’s “Boom”? Exactly. So I was little hesitant to play his remix of Peaches “Boys Wanna Be Her” because I didn’t want to hate it. But, but, but, but and but. His treatment of the guitars is everything I have ever wanted in a remix of a rock song. Perfect. He hit it. And then he totally surprises you with the drive by start/stop nausea towards the end… and pulls it off. And then! When you think all the surprises are out of the bag, he builds up Peaches vocals exploding them into a total aural orgasm. You forget this song is about Joan Jett… he makes it about Peaches. Hands down, Mr. Sunshine’s best remix to date.

Peaches - “Boys Wanna Be Her” (TS Brooklyn Fire re-touch)

Also before you forget, head over to Weird Sciences’ MySpace and stream their remix. Hot. The new vocals are smart in about fifty different ways.

  1. Agreed on Sunshine. Sometimes I think he goes into autopilot and just sends stuff out without even listening to it.

  2. totally right on about TS remixes - but what about his “Y Control” mix? i think that’s still his best work…

  3. OK, am I just megalomanical here, or - did Peaches take inspiration from my Peaches/Gary Glitter mashup when she went to make this video? We chatted via MySpace - and she’d heard it, and loved it…ha, who knows? :)

  4. I love Tommie Sunshine. Can’t wait for his full length next year.

  5. [...] The bearded face of Tommie Sunshine was always on the top friends list of five out of ten peoples myspace pages when i was bored enough to go browsing - so it was a pleasant suprise when it came to my attention that he is Brooklyn Fire and is responsible for many a good remix - check Big Stereo for a new Peaches refix!
