Dead Disco

Dirty, hairy indie rock boys have been hogging the spotlight for the past few years. But. I think the tide is changing, and we’re about to get some total Lilith action…. like retro 90’s “Wannabe” Girl Power. There’s a whole bunch of chick fronted bands from all genres rising and ready to take it over… from The Pipettes to Lily Allen to The Ettes. Hopefully Dead Disco will be right there in the front.

Produced by James Ford, “Automatic” has the band sounding like a perfect blend of Berlin vs. The Go-Gos vs. the Rapture. Dead Disco is some serious popped up disco punk.

Remember when rock bands didn’t do pop and pop bands didn’t do rock? It’s too hard to decide if Dead Disco is indie or pop, but then does it matter? Labels are for suckers.

Get ready to play this out…

  1. this is definitely pure pop. i can’t help picturing their “indie” makeovers. they look way too much like cheerleaders who got dipped in black and white paint and rolled around in h&m.

  2. um… they’re working with james ford, and their single is out on fierce panda.

plus, according to their press release they all met in art school: hello hipster!

i’m pretty sure they’re indie doing pop.

but like i said: labels are for suckers.

  3. its just a great song…. what’s the big deal about whether its indie or not? i guess im missing something.

  4. this track is weak and this band is some scenester shit that only suckas fall for, get real and quit dreamin of the shit you wish you could be a part of u pseudo music fags who wish u could be hipsters if u werent so poseur

  5. exactly prince.

derp, this is your second nasty comment in two days. what exactly are you trying to prove?..

  6. why do we have to give everything a freakin’ label…it’s a good song…it’s not revolutionary…but it’s a damn good dong

  7. Their music is totally aside to how hot they are, and there is nothing wrong with that!

  8. Yeah, that is a nice pic of the lead singer in the back.

    The song? Not so bad.

  9. cheers for that, I got hold of an other song of them “the treatment” a coule of months ago, check also out the remixes, they are nice.

  10. this is the great example for the femenine music ,exep the fuck emo!!! is a good band……..

  11. not sure why people are so quick to leap to conclusions one way or another about a band being indie or being pop or being hipster/scenester or whatever …

maybe the thing with this band is that theyre all these things and none of them …. and there’s nothing wrong with that… theyre just good.

  12. Saw this trio @ Bachhaus in Darlington a few weeks ago. Before they hit the stage, all i saw was the potential for these three pixies to play some soft mellow numbers, but seeing them perform i was blown away!
The blonde was awesome on guitar and the band as a whole were mesmerising! Brilliant!
Hunted their single ‘the treatment’ down straight away.
Can’t wait to see them again to be honest.

  13. thewyre hot, theyre different, theyre girls doing there thing.
