YYYs + Dirty P
14 July 2006 :: posted by TravisA Peaches remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? I know, I know. You’re thinking that you accidently time warped back to 2001. But no. We’re halfway through 2006, and this year seems to be shaping up a lot like ‘01. To my knowledge this is the first Peaches remix that she did not drop her own vocals onto. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Smart move on her part… this remix actually ends up being way hotter than you probably thought it would be: synth and Karen O fighting for the front. This remix could easily be dropped into any set… I’m sure it will be filling a few dance floors.

This track does sound very 2001. I think peaches lost all her charm when she released her second album. Also, this remix shows again, that she is stuck in some kind of sound that was fashion 5 years ago. And fashion only, not a sound that goes any further. Making fashionable music is not really a problem, in fact, i love refreshment followed by hype. But then make sure you are always actual and up to date enough to maintain this refreshment. Also, production wise, i think the sythesizer sounds cheap, and not in a good way.
My god, i don’t want to be this negative!

first thought: Paris Hilton at some overly populated LA club dancing like a fool. visual eyesore, huh. well, Peaches used synths to her advantage yet did not so much justice to the song. yet in the end, both Karen O and Peaches are making how much more compared to my earnings, brownie points to them.

yeah, i really wanted to like this too. it just can’t compare to the original version. especially after watching the fans rock out in the music video.

Man, this cut sounds like it was ripped straight from a four-track demo. The drum tracks are dry, the levels are all mismatched. I doubt this is Peaches at all, unless someone did a little B&E.

This song is really great if you play the same song on another player (such as itunes or whatever) but make one about 3 seconds ahead of the other. It’s coolness multiplies by a million.

um, wow. you are so right. it’s actually somehow… better. i recommend about 11 seconds.
