Muse

Muse is back. This time with a more powerful sound. How can these guys get better and better with every album? A lot of people compare them to Radiohead. I can see that, but they haven’t really ventured too far from their own sound. They didn’t go the electronic route like Radiohead did. They remain with the Rock N’ Roll attitude of even their first album. There’s something about the classical sound I feel they have. As if they provided the soundtrack for a rock opera.
The album is called Black Holes And Revelations and in it’s entirety I can say is gold. From the hard rock songs, to the love ballads it couldn’t get any better. As to why they haven’t hit the mainstream as hards as Radiohead, I do not know. Maybe America just doesn’t get it. Actually their is no question, America just doesn’t.

  1. this is a newer version of debase masons grog right?

  2. America never gets anything, another case & point: Goldfrapp!!

  3. goldfrapp’s lack of success in america has more to do with a botched marketing job, six month delayed release schedule, etc than america “not getting it.” they waited too long and lost any momentum. it was the most pathetic thing to watch.

  4. Awful AWFUL album. Overblown, overproduced prog-rock for students. Hated every minute of it.

  5. Indeed Muse is disguisting. And this album as well. Absolutely horrible. How can they get rated like this? They’re so fucking kitch, fake, and their lyrics are so bad.

  6. oh yeah, and i’m from europe.

  7. Hmmm…it seems odd that you feel you can class Muse as music ‘for students’, as though everyone in a certain age band will enjoy a particular style of music. In case it has passed by your seemingly ignorant perceptions of the world, may i politely remind you that music is a matter of individual preference, and if you believe music to be of poor quality, then you’re welcome to your opinions, but it is unecessary and immature to post comments such as the above using obscene language and vague criticisms with no genuine substance. The driving concept of music blogs is that people can try the songs for themselves for free, prior to making a purchase, and posting should be reserved for intelligent criticism, or thanks to the poster for taking the time and energy to share their music, and it is narrow minded people such as yourself who reduce the pleasure of such a revolution in the way in which people can find new music.

So, to conclude, thank you to the poster of the blog, and to those who wish to use the internet to slander the music of others, please refrain from doing so unless you are equipped with sufficient mental dexterity to provide substance to your hollow criticisms.

  8. i would add this to matthews comment regarding nobs comment that muse make “prog-rock for students”:

    nob you are wrong mate.

it was infact radiohead who were the student band, as far as i know muse never went to university (thom yorke was in exeter university and the rest were at oxford). hardly the painters and decorators or guitar salesman that muse had been before they got their first recording contract).

Don’t get me wrong, i like radiohead, even if mr yorke does whine quite a lot, so i suggest you should also try appreciating them both.

  9. well i went to their concert a couple weeks ago in Kansas City. It was a good concert, and their new cd is kickass. Say whatever you want i’m staying true with them, i’ll support them with whatever route they’d take too. They play great music
